Job Summary:
The Senior QA Lead will represent the Customer Data team across the Loyalty program implementation and lead end-to-end testing across the customer data ecosystem. The role is responsible for backend verification, data integrity testing, and developing a production-ready Playwright (TypeScript) regression suite for the integration flow involving Talon.one (Promotion Engine), Ometria (CDP), and downstream Loyalty Communications. The position will oversee testing across the wider customer data ecosystem, collaborate with the QA Lead and EPAM (System Integrator), and work independently with minimal direction.
Key Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with the QA Lead to formalize the master test strategy, acceptance criteria, and quality gates across all integration layers.
• Review and challenge EPAM's testing strategy, ideally during the final 1-2 weeks of discovery.
• Maintain the test plan and requirements traceability matrix.
• Develop detailed manual and API test scenarios covering functional paths, asynchronous data synchronization, boundary limits, and negative conditions.
• Build and maintain a scenario catalogue mapping every loyalty flow across Talon.one, Ometria, and downstream communications.
• Build, execute, and maintain an automated backend API test suite using Playwright with TypeScript, following repository and architectural standards.
• Develop test data seeding and teardown utilities under the guidance of the QA Lead.
• Deliver automation code that meets linting and test execution standards and successfully passes code reviews.
• Develop automation alongside manual testing, aligning with the SRE team's enterprise approach and AI-assisted test-generation roadmap.
• Produce automated execution reports with pass/fail tracking, performance timings, and failure logs.
• Prepare technical documentation covering framework design, execution instructions, and maintenance runbooks.
• Coordinate with internal test leaders across QA areas.
• Provide testing direction and guidance to additional QA resources assigned to the engagement.
Required Qualifications:
• 7+ years of experience in QA and test engineering, including experience as a QA or Test Lead responsible for setting testing direction and working independently.
• Hands-on experience building API test automation using Playwright with TypeScript.
• Strong expertise in backend and API testing, including REST APIs, payload and schema validation, and asynchronous or event-driven data flows.
• Experience validating latency and Service Level Agreement (SLA) requirements.
• Experience with data integrity testing across integrated systems, including data ingestion, field mapping, and profile synchronization.
• Experience writing manual and automated test cases covering functional, boundary, and negative scenarios, with traceability to requirements.
• Ability to define test strategies, acceptance criteria, and quality gates, and review a system integrator's testing approach.
• Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and secure secrets management, ensuring credentials and API tokens are not hardcoded.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with enterprise client teams, system integrators, and vendors.
• Ability to work independently with minimal direction and coordinate testing activities across multiple teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience testing loyalty, promotion, or rules-engine platforms such as Talon.one, including ledger behavior and customer tier transitions.
• Experience with Customer Data Platforms (CDPs) or marketing automation tools such as Ometria.
• Experience testing lifecycle and transactional notifications, including trigger logic and personalization payloads.
• Background in retail or e-commerce.
• Experience using AI-assisted tools for test generation.
• Experience in test data lifecycle management, including data seeding, teardown, and environment management.
Standards, Security and Deliverables:
• Develop automation frameworks using Playwright with TypeScript, following client-defined standards.
• Manage the test data lifecycle under the guidance of the Loyalty program QA Lead.
• Use secure environment variables and secrets management aligned with client CI/CD standards. Hardcoded credentials and API tokens are not permitted.
• Deliver a test strategy document and test matrix, including a scenario catalogue mapping all loyalty flows across Talon.one, Ometria, and downstream communications.
• Deliver a production-ready Playwright API automation suite in the client repository that meets all linting and test execution standards.
• Provide automated execution reports with pass/fail tracking, performance timings, and failure logs.
• Complete knowledge transfer through documentation covering framework design, test execution instructions, and a maintenance runbook.
