Senior Project Surveyor
The Senior Project Surveyor will report to the Engineering Market Manager and lead the company's Survey and Right-of-Way (ROW) Department. This position will oversee office and field survey operations, ROW research, utility research, GIS integration, and engineering basemap development. Project work will support telecommunications, utilities, EV infrastructure, fiber optic networks, land development, and other project types as required.
Responsibilities will focus on the accurate and efficient production of survey and ROW deliverables, the integrity of survey data and basemapping processes, and the development of scalable departmental standards and workflows. The Senior Project Surveyor will oversee field crews, provide technical leadership and quality control, support multidisciplinary project teams, and help establish and grow the company's in-house surveying capabilities.
Job Responsibilities:

Lead due diligence research involving deeds, plats, easements, title reports, subdivision records, utility records, DOT records, municipal records, and other public land records.
Oversee the development and maintenance of ArcGIS Online (AGOL), GIS databases, and survey data management systems.
Ensure the accuracy, consistency, and integrity of field data, survey control, ROW information, GIS datasets, and engineering basemaps.
Review and professionally endorse surveys, plats, exhibits, legal descriptions, and other documents requiring a Professional Land Surveyor's signature and seal.
Perform field reconnaissance and in-house survey work as needed.
Provide technical oversight of conventional, GNSS, robotic total station, UAV, LiDAR, mobile mapping, and other data-collection methods.
Coordinate survey and ROW activities with engineering, permitting, land acquisition, utility coordination, and construction management teams.
Manage survey subcontractors, including scope development, scheduling, coordination, quality review, and deliverable acceptance.
Track assignments, prioritize work, and maintain effective project and department workflow.
Evaluate deliverables for completeness, constructability, accuracy, and compatibility with engineering requirements.
Mentor and train survey staff, field crews, ROW researchers, GIS personnel, and other technical team members.
Assist with recruiting, staffing, resource planning, workload forecasting, and performance management.
Evaluate and implement technologies such as GIS automation, AI-assisted ROW research, LiDAR, UAV mapping, mobile mapping, and cloud-based collaboration tools.
Support business development through proposal preparation, scope development, budgeting, client coordination, and expansion of surveying and ROW services.
