Job Description

CDM Smith currently has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Project Manager with previous experience managing water and wastewater projects to join our West Central group. In this position, you will be the main point of contact for planning and design of municipal drinking water, wastewater treatment, and pump station projects in the greater Kansas City area and surrounding region (including Kansas, Missouri, Iowa and Nebraska) and assist with business development activities. Our services have spanned the areas of design and construction administration of drinking water, wastewater, water resources, reuse, asset renewal, and storm water facilities.

As a member of this team, you would contribute to CDM Smith's mission by:
  • Managing and serving as the lead Project Manager on major municipal Water & Wastewater projects.
  • Providing technical guidance, senior leadership, and mentoring engineering staff to enhance our water services design capabilities.
  • Being responsible for scope, schedule, budget development, and project monitoring.
  • Completing Quality Assurance/Quality Control of key deliverables.
  • Assisting Client Service Leaders with technical marketing including proposals and meeting clients.
  • Participation in professional societies relevant to the industry.
  • Building and maintaining positive working relationships with key decision makers in our clients' organizations.

Skills & Abilities

  • Experience working with project management methodology including budget development, project planning, control and assurance methodologies, project management software and finance and accounting concepts and practices.
  • Demonstrates excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Possesses in-depth knowledge of project goals, drivers, strategies, risks and opportunities.
  • Good interpersonal and presentation skills for interacting with team members and clients.
  • Ability to interact with many people and process a large volume of requests as necessary.
  • Excellent personal computer skills including strong knowledge in MS Word and Excel.
  • Demonstrates strong organizational skills to balance and prioritize work.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • 10 years of related experience. PMP (PMI), CCM or DBIA certification is required (within 12 months of hire or promotion onto the Approved Project Manager list).
  • Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands.
  • Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in civil, environmental, or chemical engineering or related discipline.
  • Professional engineering (PE) license.
  • Previous experience working on and managing design projects for municipal drinking water, wastewater, and/or pump stations in Kansas City and the surrounding region.
  • Previous business development experience including preparation of proposals, scopes of work, cost estimates, and participating in presentations for municipal clients.
  • Previous experience in managing projects under Collaborative Delivery approaches and environments.
  • Familiarity with use of AI Tools in enhancing productivity, content creation, and automation.
  • Excellent communication, networking and team building skills.

Pay Range Min

USD $115,211.00
Pay Range Max

USD $201,635.00
Additional Pay Range Information

CDM Smith is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. This pay range is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels for the geographic location assigned to the position. In addition to geographic location, a candidate's salary is determined by several other factors including, but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, relevant work experience, skills, required certifications, and education/training.
Additional Compensation

All bonuses at CDM Smith are discretionary and may or may not apply to this position.
