General Description:

Senior Estimator

Position Description

This position will be responsible for developing complete and accurate estimates, reviewing project documents, coordinating vendor and subcontractor pricing, identifying project risks, and helping lead estimates from initial review through final proposal.

The candidate will have strong industrial construction experience, be able to work independently, manage multiple estimates, and communicate clearly with estimating, operations, project management, vendors, and clients.

Responsibilities

    • Review drawings, specifications, bid documents, and project requirements
    • Prepare detailed labor, material, equipment, subcontractor, and indirect cost estimates
    • Perform and review quantity takeoffs
    • Develop and issue RFQs to vendors and subcontractors
    • Review vendor and subcontractor proposals for scope and completeness
    • Identify scope gaps, project risks, constructability concerns, and schedule impacts
    • Plan and manage assigned estimates through completion
    • Prepare estimates for internal review and clearly explain pricing assumptions and risks
    • Assist with proposal preparation and final bid submissions
    • Participate in project turnover meetings for awarded work
    • Support and mentor less experienced estimators when needed
    • Use historical information and lessons learned to improve future estimates

    • Plan work around bid deadlines and communicate concerns early
    • Maintain organized and accurate estimate documentation
    • Be prepared for estimate reviews with quantities, pricing, risks, and outstanding items clearly identified

    • Work effectively with operations and other departments to develop realistic execution plans
    • Provide leadership and support to the estimating team


Position Requirements

Qualifications

    • Minimum 7 years of estimating, project management, field, or related industrial construction experience preferred
    • Strong understanding of industrial construction means and methods
    • Ability to read and understand drawings, specifications, and bid documents
    • Experience developing labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor pricing
    • Strong Excel and estimating software skills
    • Good organizational and communication skills
    • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work independently
    • Experience with mechanical, piping, civil, structural steel, tanks, fabrication, or general industrial construction is preferred
