Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Senior Project Engineer to join our Research & Development team. In this lead role, the engineer will develop a deep technical understanding of the theory and practical engineering requirements for a portfolio of TAPI products and apply that knowledge to both sustaining engineering and new product development. Responsibilities include preparing project proposals and schedules, managing approved concurrent projects, and defining technologies that support next-generation product designs. Working closely with other team members, the successful candidate will be expected to lead projects to completion on approved schedules in a fast-paced, challenging environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Serve as the lead engineering technical representative for the assigned TAPI product portfolio.
  • Define high level product requirements through collaboration with key groups, such as: Marketing, Manufacturing Engineering, Customer Service, and External partners.
  • Manage approved projects in a dynamic R&D environment while communicating status, risks, tradeoffs, and recommendations clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Lead design reviews, technical risk assessments, failure investigations, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives across the full product lifecycle.
  • Work closely with Marketing Product Managers to develop long-term strategic technology roadmaps.
  • Perform and oversee Verification and Validation testing in a laboratory setting.
  • Perform and oversee sustaining activities on legacy products to address customer needs.
  • Other duties may be assigned.


Supervisory Responsibilities

This job has no supervisory responsibilities but may provide technical leadership to lower-level Engineers including carrying out lead responsibilities in accordance with applicable regulations and laws and the organization's policies and procedures. This includes, but is not limited to training employees, planning, assigning, directing work and resolving technically related work problems.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a closely related technical discipline.
  • Typically, 10+ years of progressive, hands-on product development experience, preferably in R&D, scientific instrumentation, industrial instrumentation, precision measurement, or similarly complex hardware product environments.
  • Have strong project management and leadership qualities, based on prior experience in a product development environment.
  • Demonstrate a good understanding of the operation and application of pneumatic technologies such as, pumps, gas regulators, electronic valves, and flow control devices.
  • Have the desire to work in a fast paced and challenging work environment.
  • Have strong analytical and problem-solving skills to make sound technical decisions.
  • Have excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work within, and mentor, a cross functional team.
  • Be proficient with MS Word, MS Project, Excel, Outlook and other office productivity tools.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience designing electromechanical systems for gas analyzers, optical measurement systems, environmental monitoring instruments, industrial controls, or other precision analytical equipment.
  • Strong understanding of electromechanical systems and hands-on familiarity gas flow sensing technologies.
  • Experience with regulatory, safety, EMC/EMI, environmental, reliability, and qualification testing for electronic products.
  • Knowledge of product lifecycle processes, engineering change control, BOM management, PLM systems, supplier engagement, and production transfer.
  • Demonstrated history of mentoring engineers, establishing design standards, improving engineering processes, and contributing to technology roadmaps.
  • Adapts to changes in the work environment;
  • Able to deal with frequent changes, delays, or unexpected events.


Work Environment and Physical Requirements
  • Work is performed in an office, R&D laboratory, and manufacturing or production support environment.
  • Hands-on work with prototype hardware, test equipment, production units, and engineering builds is expected.
  • Some domestic and international travel, less than 10%.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds as needed for laboratory or product support activities.

Salary Range:
$113,600.00-$151,400.000

The anticipated salary range listed for this role is only an estimate. Actual compensation for successful candidates is carefully determined based on several factors including, but not limited to, location, education/training, work experience, key skills, and type of position.
