HGA is seeking an experienced Senior Project Controls Scheduler to support capital construction projects at a power generation facility in Westlake, Louisiana. This onsite role is ideal for a seasoned scheduling professional with deep Primavera P6 expertise who is comfortable working across engineering, procurement, construction, and contractor teams to keep complex projects on track.
The Senior Project Controls Scheduler will be responsible for developing, maintaining, analyzing, and reporting integrated project schedules for capital construction projects. This individual will work closely with project management, construction, engineering, procurement, contractors, and project controls personnel to develop realistic project schedules, measure progress, identify schedule risks, forecast completion dates, and recommend corrective actions. The ideal candidate has extensive Primavera P6 experience and a strong background scheduling large power generation, utility, EPC, petrochemical, LNG, refining, or heavy industrial construction projects.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and maintain detailed Level 3/Level 4 project schedules using Primavera P6
- Establish project schedule baselines in alignment with approved scope, execution plans, contracts, and project milestones
- Integrate engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and contractor schedules into the overall project master schedule
- Perform regular schedule updates using verified progress information from project teams and contractors
- Perform critical path and near-critical path analysis and communicate schedule risks to project leadership
- Evaluate schedule float, constraints, logic, milestones, resource loading, and sequencing
- Develop schedule forecasts and accurately predict project milestone and completion dates
- Review contractor schedules for completeness, logic, contractual compliance, and alignment with the owner schedule
- Perform schedule variance and trend analysis and identify emerging delays before they affect major milestones
- Support development and evaluation of schedule recovery and acceleration plans
- Perform what-if scenario analysis to evaluate alternative execution strategies
- Develop schedule narratives, look-ahead schedules, milestone reports, progress curves, and management dashboards
- Participate in weekly and monthly project schedule review meetings
- Assist with schedule risk assessments and quantitative schedule risk analysis
- Support evaluation of contractor change orders, time-extension requests, and schedule-related claims
- Maintain schedule change documentation and baseline revision records
- Coordinate closely with Cost Controls to ensure schedule progress aligns with cost forecasts and earned-value/progress measurement
- Provide clear schedule analysis and recommendations to Project Managers and senior leadership
Required Qualifications- 10+ years of project scheduling/project controls experience on major capital projects
- Expert-level proficiency with Oracle Primavera P6
- Demonstrated experience developing and managing integrated EPC/construction schedules
- Strong understanding of CPM scheduling principles
- Experience with engineering, procurement, construction, startup, and commissioning activities
- Ability to analyze contractor schedules and identify logic, progress, and forecasting issues
- Strong understanding of schedule baselines, critical path, float, resource loading, progress measurement, and schedule forecasting
- Strong Excel and reporting skills
Preferred Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline
- Power generation or electric utility project experience strongly preferred
- Experience in petrochemical, LNG, refining, or other Gulf Coast heavy industrial projects
- Experience with Power BI or similar reporting tools
- AACE Planning & Scheduling Professional (PSP) or PMI-SP certification
