Overall Responsibilities:
As a licensed Architect, responsible for guiding design teams through design and technical development on multiple projects or large complex projects; risk management review; and managing all technical documents through each phase of construction.
Overall Leadership:
-Serve as a resource across the organization through training, mentoring, and conducting seminars.
-Sustain and raise the firm's image as a design-driven firm.
-Stay current on technical innovations and trends of specific project types and take initiative for providing continuing education opportunities for staff.
-Assist Principal-in-Charge, Project Manager, and Project Designers in developing marketing materials and marketing project narratives.
-Participate in marketing meetings and interviews.
-Represent the Firm by actively participating in external professional organizations and social functions.
-Responsible for developing white papers and thought leadership pieces for industry organizations.
Design Leadership:
-Involve exploration of subject area, definition of scope, selection of items for investigation, and development of novel concepts and methods.
-Manage large number of consultants, delegate work assignments and provide direction and guidance to large number of junior staff.
-Develop solutions to technical problems; design and review production drawings; manage record keeping; implement risk management standards and review documents with planning, building, fire and other appropriate authorities of jurisdiction.
-Administer some management tasks (staffing, fee estimating, scheduling, and reviewing payment requests) but work primarily on developing solutions through technical and design refinement.
-Develop, design, and review of production drawings and construction documents for compliance with design intent, building systems, construction detailing and coordination with specifications.
-Respond to bid inquiries regarding pre-bid approvals, meet with governmental agencies, committees or officials for purposes of project presentation, approvals and permits.
-Conduct on-site observations and prepares observation reports.
-Conduct project close-out efforts including punch lists, certificate of occupancy, and certificate of substantial completion.
-Responsible for managing all technical documentation through all phases of construction including proposal requests, change orders, revisions to project scope through all phases of construction and project close-out efforts.
Risk Management:
-Responsible for check set and risk management review.
-Keep records of design decisions pertaining to selection of materials, detailing methodology and maintains project manual.
-Provide effective technical oversight so that projects meet the Firm's quality control and quality assurance standards.
Requirements
-Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in the design and documentation of projects, with a minimum of five (5) of those years as a Project Architect, and a proven track record of progressively more complex and diverse assignments.
-Must have experience in multi-family, high-rise or higher education projects.
-Substantial experience in construction document preparation and field observation, knowledge of building materials, specifications and construction techniques.
-Experience in dealing with governmental agencies and building/zoning codes, and appropriate knowledge of engineering disciplines to evaluate and coordinate work done by consultants.
-Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as time management skills.
-Ability to demonstrate full knowledge of industry practices and a proven track record of quality control on progressively more complex and diverse assignments.
-Requires judgment, based on precedent and policy, in the development of a recommended course of action.
-Thorough understanding of sustainable practices and industry standards.

-Proficiency in relevant computer software:
-Building Information Modeling: Revit 2016 or later
-Rendering: 3D Studio Max, Maxwell Render, Twinmotion, or Enscape
-Modeling: SketchUp or Rhino
-AutoCAD 2016 or later
-Microsoft Office
-A degree in Architecture, preferable at the graduate level, related field or equivalent experience required. LEED AP preferred, Architecture license required, California preferred.
-Current affiliation and/or membership in local, state, or national industry organization(s) is a plus.
