Your Opportunity

The ideal candidate for this role as Healthcare Senior Project Architect is a licensed professional with a broad set of architectural experience and knowledge, and a strong background in large-scale Healthcare projects. The initial assignment is for a major long-term healthcare project in the region, an 800,000 sf ground-up acute care hospital and central utility plant with a parking garage.

In this role you will be the senior lead for the interior fit-out and clinical planning team from design development through project completion. You will be expected to promote design excellence, possess advanced technical skills to support project work, and employ strong communication to lead a multi-disciplinary team in a manner consistent with firm-wide standards for project delivery. In support of office leadership and the account management team, this role will often serve as the primary contact for a client, communicating progress and status throughout the duration of the project.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Lead project teams for the design, technical execution, and discipline coordination for all phases of the project from concept through completion.
  • Collaborate with Designers and Project Managers to prepare internal project budgets, schedules, and work plans.
  • Direct and coordinate internal team of interior designers, architects, engineers, and specialists to ensure faithful adherence to design intent, budget, schedule, and agreed-upon work plan.
  • Direct and coordinate external team of consulting designers, engineers, and other specialty consultants.
  • Lead project coordination meetings with team members, contractors, and owners.
  • Analyze, interpret and apply applicable codes, regulations, and requirements.
  • Coordinate regulatory submissions and permit documentation.
  • Collaborate with other designers to recommend building systems, materials, and details and faithfully execute the development of selected systems and details.
  • Manage complex tasks amongst large multi-disciplinary teams on large scale healthcare projects.
  • Collaborate with Principals group on business development strategy and support client management activities.
  • Supervise, mentor, and coach junior staff.
  • Check the work of others for accuracy and completeness and manage the efforts of team members in support of broader project goals.
  • Assist in the confirmation of scope, schedule, goals and priorities, budget and staffing.
  • Communicate and monitor an efficient project work plan.
  • Utilize BIM technology to advance the design and documentation in various architectural phases.
  • Participate in and be accountable for the preparation of project specifications.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of construction cost estimating and value analysis;
  • Participate in the bidding and negotiations phase and preparing addenda as required.
  • Provide project leadership for adherence to design best practices including principles of occupant health/well-being and high performance/sustainable design
  • Participate in the winning of new projects including collaborating with others to develop capture strategies, developing fees, writing proposal collateral, interviewing with clients, and developing client relationships by participating in development meetings with clients, and participating in client conferences.
  • Participate in and support Quality Assurance and Control practices.
  • Participate in marketing activities for the office/company.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

A Senior Project Architect at Stantec is a licensed architect with a minimum of 10 years leading project design, detailing, and documentation and administering construction contracts. They must be passionate about design; proficient in REVIT and other design/documentation software; able to faithfully execute design intent and project documentation while directing others to do the same; able to apply applicable codes and regulations to a variety of project types while directing others to do the same; able to rigorously adhere to design and construction best practices including best practices in sustainable design; able to mentor junior staff and grow the professional capacity of the studio and region; and willing to collaborate with leadership to market the firm and develop business.   • Strong working knowledge of the codes and standards that regulate the design of the healthcare environment, including but not limited to the International Building Code, NFPA, and FGI Guidelines.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite is required; experience with Newforma and Bluebeam is preferred.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree and/or Master's Degree in Architecture
  • Registered Architect
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience
  • Large-scale healthcare project experience required
  • LEED Green Associate or LEED AP preferred
