Full Job Description
Hypertec is seeking a Senior Product Owner, AI to join our Project Management team in Montreal, Quebec. If you are motivated, collaborative, and aligned with our values, we would love to hear from you.
What You'll Be Contributing:
The Manager, Product Management is responsible for the strategic direction, lifecycle management, profitability, and growth of assigned product portfolios.
This role oversees product planning, commercialization, vendor relationships, pricing strategies, and portfolio performance while leading a team of Product Managers and Product Specialists. The role is accountable for driving revenue growth, margin optimization, successful product launches, and long-term portfolio competitiveness.
Core Responsibilities:
Own the product vision, roadmap, and backlog for the sovereign AI platform, including its AI skills, agents, and connections to business systems.
Act as the voice of the customer by running regular discovery with business units, observing how teams work, and bringing their needs, pain points, and feedback into every platform decision.
Prioritize the backlog by business value, adoption, platform capacity, security, and technical debt, balancing individual business unit requests against the health of the shared platform.
Work with the Business Systems Analyst to refine business needs into user stories and acceptance criteria ready for development, and accept or reject delivered work against them.
Take part in sprint planning, backlog refinement, and sprint reviews, and stay available to the development team to clarify priorities and requirements.
Partner with development, infrastructure, and information security on access controls, audit logging, data connections, and governance, so every capability respects each user's existing permissions and keeps company data on Hypertec infrastructure.
Define and track platform success measures, including active use by business unit, user satisfaction, reuse of shared capabilities, and realized business value, and report results to leadership.
Lead the move from proof of concept to commercial product: define what each capability needs to be ready for external clients, and work with sales, marketing, and leadership on packaging, pricing input, and launch.
What Sets You Apart:
7+ years of experience in product ownership or product management, including at least 3 years owning the roadmap and backlog for a software product or platform.
Recent, hands on experience turning proofs of concept into commercial software products ready to sell, as a product owner or product manager.
Demonstrated experience running user discovery and turning customer feedback into product priorities that delivered measurable adoption or value.
Working technical understanding of platforms, APIs, system integrations, and identity and access management, sufficient to make tradeoffs with developers, architects, and security teams.
Daily, practical use of generative AI tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, or Microsoft Copilot, and a working understanding of how large language models behave, including their limits and failure modes.
Experience writing user stories and acceptance criteria and working in Agile delivery with a development team.
Experience launching an internal platform or product across multiple business units or companies.
Ability to build support and influence decisions with senior leaders across business units, and to explain platform tradeoffs and AI limits clearly to audiences without a technical background.
Advanced French and English, spoken and written. English is required because the role works daily with development teams and business unit stakeholders outside Quebec.
Preferred Qualifications:
Degree in engineering, computer science, or a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience.
Experience with private, on premises, or sovereign AI deployments, or with data residency and security requirements for AI.
Experience with enterprise business systems and their integrations.
Familiarity with AI agent tooling and Model Context Protocol (MCP).
Experience with AI governance, data classification, or privacy frameworks, including Quebec's Law 25.
Product owner certification such as CSPO or PSPO, and experience with Jira and Confluence.
What's In it For You:
Hybrid work model (3 days a week in office), supported by competitive benefits.
Comprehensive health benefits that ensure you and your family are covered for a wide range of medical needs.
Health Spending Account (HSA).
Employer-matched RRSP Program.
Paid Floater Days.
