We are looking for a talented senior process mechanical engineer and project manager focused on the planning and engineering design of water/wastewater infrastructure projects who wants to be part of a purpose-driven organization that's focused on helping our clients, colleagues and communities thrive. The role of process mechanical engineering and project manager with our Water Team is a dynamic position well suited to an individual who is good at managing multiple tasks and deadlines and working with multi-disciplinary teams. The candidate should be able to evaluate, select, specify, and engineer process mechanical systems or products for a project, and will perform a variety of tasks which may include calculations, design sketches and concepts, report preparation and field work.

Projects assigned may be broad, varied and diverse in scope. Our group is involved in a wide range of water infrastructure projects, including sewer and water main of both large and small diameter systems, pump stations, and treatment facilities. You will primarily be working on water and wastewater treatment and pumping station related projects through collaboration with a wide range of technical disciplines.

The successful candidate will be someone with strong leadership and communication skills, market knowledge, business acumen combined with innovative ideas, and a successful history of client relations and account management.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Consistently demonstrate a commitment to the Health and Safety culture within Stantec.
  • Manage projects of varying complexity within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Manages technical tasks including completing design work, calculations, equipment sizing and selection, writing specifications and technical reports, and performing feasibility studies on a wide range of municipal infrastructure projects generally involving pump stations, wastewater resource recovery facilities, water treatment facilities, and stormwater management facilities.
  • Coordinates design and report deliverable packages for submission to clients and/or approval authorities.
  • Coordination of technical activity for Process Mechanical and other disciplines to ensure compatibility with the design intent.
  • Attend meetings with the client, team members and sub-consultants.
  • Understand and implement industry standards and manuals as well as client and regulatory agencies standards and requirements.
  • Assist in the preparation of engineering project documents, client presentations, client contact and communication pertaining to specific project deliverables.
  • Prepare engineering documents and contract documents by developing construction specifications, plans and schedules.
  • Evaluates, selects, specifies, and engineers process mechanical systems or products for a project.
  • Conducts quality assurance and quality control on own projects.
  • Assist in the review of shop drawings and submittals, responds to request for information, prepares site observation reports, and performs other contract administration tasks.
  • Participate in basic cost estimating under the direction of technical leaders to support engineering projects.
  • Involvement in regional industry professional associations.
  • Provide independent and quality reviews for peers on other proposals or project deliverables within your technical subject matter expertise.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to more junior staff and peers.
  • Conduct occasional site visits.

Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • Proven technical skills applicable to delivering process mechanical projects including typical engineering calculations, literature reviews, specifications, drawing preparations, and cost estimating.
  • Understanding of local and regional jurisdictional codes, legal and design requirements in relevant jurisdictions.
  • Broad, general understanding of many relevant areas of municipal engineering, hydraulics, and process mechanical systems design with respect to materials as well as industry standards.
  • General understanding of various construction means and methods and their disturbance impacts on the project site.
  • Understands phases of engineering and capital project delivery, client procurement procedures, and typical regulatory approval processes.
  • Experience in managing client expectations and engineering budgets.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work to meet multiple deadlines.
  • Works in a team environment without direct supervision.
  • Proficient writer and communicator.
  • Completion of additional business development training and certifications considered an asset.
  • Holds a valid drivers' license.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Process, Environmental, Mechanical or Civil Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Completion of a Master or PhD degree in water/wastewater treatment process or mechanical engineering disciplines considered an asset.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.).
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience.

Typical office environment working with computers and sitting at a desk. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather. Our group operates under a hybrid work strategy with work expectations being a combination of work from home and in-office support. Applicants for this role will be expected to spend a majority of their work week within the Windsor Ontario office.

Pay Range:
• Locations Outside of Lower Mainland -- BC & Various locations in Ontario-$106,700.00 - $156,700.00 Annually
• Locations in Lower Mainland -- BC, GTA & Ottawa Ontario-$114,600.00 - $164,600.00 Annually

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
