What you will doJohnson Controls is looking for a Senior Power Electronics Engineer to play a lead role in shaping next-generation power electronics and variable speed drive (VSD) control solutions. In this highly visible position, you'll own the development of advanced control algorithms for embedded processors using MATLAB/Simulink, helping bring innovative ideas from concept to reality.
You'll be hands-on throughout the product lifecycle-designing, testing, and sustaining electronic PCB assemblies and components, building and evaluating prototypes, and validating performance against clearly defined engineering requirements. Your work will directly influence product reliability, efficiency, and real-world performance.
This role is onsite at our state-of-the-art Advanced Development and Engineering Center in New Freedom, PA, where you'll collaborate with passionate engineers and technical leaders driving innovation forward. How you will do it- Conduct system modeling, system simulation and verification using MATLAB/Simulink with Auto-code generation.
- Conduct prototype testing on hardware-in-loop system, variable speed drives and chiller to verify control performance.
- Support field issue trouble shooting and control method improvements.
- Maintain electronic circuit designs with embedded processors and FPGA/CPLD.
- Perform worst case circuit analysis and incorporation of appropriate reliability principles to ensure reliable operation over the environmental specifications.
- Assist internal customers to develop, test and support PCBA related projects.
- Independently conduct and apply cost analysis to feasibility studies on proposed designs or modifications to existing designs.
- Develop schedules which accurately reflect the project milestones and adhere to them.
- Integrate new and modify existing processes to cover all phases of the electronic development process.
What you will need Required - Minimum Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
- 5+ years of professional experience with power electronics, variable speed drives. If Master's degree, 8+ years of experience.
- Strong understanding of system modeling and simulation, as well as controller design, using MATLAB/SIMULINK
- Strong understanding of power electronics and motor control
- Experience with Auto-code generation using MATLAB/SIMULINK
- Familiarity with circuit design and layout tools such as Altium
