The Opportunity

We're looking for an experienced and driven Senior Power Electronics Engineer to join our engineering team and contribute to the development of cutting-edge energy storage solutions. As a Senior Power Electronics Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, developing, and testing power electronic systems for our innovative battery energy storage systems (BESS). You will be involved in the entire product development lifecycle, from concept to production, ensuring the highest standards of performance, reliability, and safety.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Design and develop power electronic systems for battery energy storage systems (BESS), including inverters, converters, and chargers.
  • Perform BOM design, schematic capture, and circuit board layout for power electronic systems.
  • Design for EMC/EMI compliance, perform regulatory testing, documentation, and data analysis.
  • Conduct detailed circuit analysis, simulation, and modeling to optimize designs for efficiency, performance, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Select and specify power electronic components, such as IGBTs, MOSFETs, diodes, and transformers, based on project requirements.
  • Develop control algorithms for power electronic systems to ensure stable and reliable operation under various conditions.
  • Oversee the fabrication, assembly, and testing of power electronic prototypes and production units.
  • Conduct thorough testing and validation of power electronic systems to meet performance specifications and regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with other engineers and cross-functional teams to integrate power electronic systems into complete BESS solutions.
  • Stay abreast of the latest advancements in power electronics technology and industry trends.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of Moment Energy's power electronics design and development processes.

The Candidate

We're looking for individuals with the following traits, skills, and experiences:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, with a focus on power electronics.
  • 10+ years of hands-on experience in the design and development of power electronic systems for industrial or renewable energy applications.
  • Strong understanding of power electronics principles, topologies, and control strategies.
  • Proficiency in power electronics simulation tools (e.g., LTSpice, MATLAB/Simulink, PLECS, PSIM).
  • Experience with EMC/EMI compliance and regulatory testing.
  • Experience with PCB design and layout software (e.g., Altium, Cadence).
  • Familiarity with power electronics testing equipment and procedures.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Previous experience in a startup environment.
  • Passion for clean energy and a desire to make a positive impact on the environment.

Nice-to-Have Experience:
  • Experience working with lithium-ion battery systems.
  • Familiarity with grid-connected energy systems or PCS integration.
  • Experience with design for manufacturing (DFM) and design for serviceability (DFS).
  • Knowledge of UL1973, UL9540, and UL9540A certification processes.
