Position Overview

Woolpert is hiring a Senior Plumbing Engineering Designer to join our dynamic MEP/FP team at our Coral Gables, FL office. This position reports to the Mechanical Engineering Team Leader and is responsible for directing plumbing engineering technical work and providing technical leadership for multiple projects and the Plumbing Engineering team.

We are unable to provide visa sponsorship for this position. Applicants must already possess work authorization in the country the job is located.

What You Will Do:
  • Design, develop, and generate models, plans, details, and drawings of plumbing systems, including domestic and industrial water, sanitary, storm, gas, and specialty piping systems and components in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and BIM requirements.
  • Lead plumbing design for complex commercial, residential, healthcare, mission-critical, industrial, and other project types from schematic design and space planning through construction administration and coordination with other disciplines.
  • Present design approaches and coordinate effectively with other disciplines, consultants, contractors, and client teams.
  • Perform QA/QC reviews of plumbing designs, BIM models, calculations, and project deliverables.
  • Develop technical guidance for plumbing systems and maintain plumbing design standards, best practices, and engineering procedures.
  • Provide technical direction, mentorship, and technical skill advancement to plumbing engineers and designers, ensuring high-quality deliverables, technical consistency, and effective project execution.
  • Track project progress, including scope, and schedule.

What You Will Bring:
  • Minimum of fifteen (15) years of experience in plumbing engineering and design.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with IPC, UPC, IFGC, NFPA, and other applicable industry, federal, state, and local codes, design standards, and regulations, including applicable Florida codes and local design requirements.
  • Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, and BIM-based design and coordination or directing Revit designers for preparing construction documents.
  • Demonstrated experience incorporating sustainable design practices, LEED principles, and water conservation strategies into plumbing system designs.
  • Expert verbal and written communication skills for both internal and external relationships.
  • Able to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries from clients, regulatory agencies, and members of the business community.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize workload, and meet project schedules and deadlines.
  • Willing to travel to project sites or offices, as needed.

Base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

Pay Range

$118,200-$147,800 USD
