The role also supports the Operations Controller and FP&A Manager with the plant budget and with weekly and monthly variance reporting.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesPlant Accounting & Close (~40%)- Own the plant month-end close: journal entries, accruals, prepaids, and balance sheet reconciliations, all completed by the close deadline.
- Reconcile the plant general ledger accounts (inventory, GRNI, fixed assets, CIP, accrued liabilities) and clear reconciling items promptly.
- Account for fixed assets and capital projects, from CIP through placed-in-service and depreciation.
- Review plant procure-to-pay activity, including receiving, three-way-match exceptions, and AP aging. Escalate cut-off issues.
- Make sure plant results follow U.S. GAAP and company policy, and help cost center owners understand their numbers.

- Maintain standard costs and analyze purchase price, usage, scrap, and overhead absorption variances.
- Coordinate cycle counts and the annual physical inventory, and analyze excess, obsolete, and scrap reserves.
Internal Controls & SOX (~20%)- Perform and document plant key controls over inventory, procure-to-pay, fixed assets, and close, and keep audit-ready evidence.
- Maintain process narratives and risk-and-control matrices. Support audit walkthroughs, testing, and requests from internal and external auditors.
- Identify gaps in segregation of duties and in process design, and recommend practical fixes.

Traits - Ability to explain financial results clearly to non-finance plant leaders.

- 4-7 years of accounting experience, including at least 2 years in manufacturing, plant, or cost accounting.
- Has independently run a monthly plant or entity close, including accruals and balance sheet reconciliations.
