Senior Litigation Paralegal with
10+ years of litigation experience to join our Litigation team in our Washington, DC office.
This position will support a sophisticated and active litigation practice handling
complex, high-volume civil matters involving sensitive and fact-intensive claims. In addition to providing senior-level litigation support, this individual will oversee and coordinate the day-to-day work of a team of approximately five paralegals.
The ideal candidate will have significant experience managing cases throughout the litigation lifecycle, strong leadership and organizational skills, and the ability to effectively manage large volumes of records, discovery materials, deadlines, and case-related information.
What You Will DoAs a Senior Litigation Paralegal in our Washington, DC Office, the following duties would be expected of you:- Oversee and coordinate the day-to-day workflow of a team of approximately five paralegals.
- Assist with assigning and prioritizing work across the paralegal team based on attorney needs, case deadlines, and workload.
- Serve as a resource and mentor to paralegals, providing guidance on case organization, work product, Firm procedures, and litigation support best practices.
- Provide senior-level paralegal support to attorneys handling complex civil litigation matters.
- Assist with all phases of litigation, including case intake, discovery, depositions, expert discovery, dispositive motions, trial preparation, and case resolution.
- Manage and organize large volumes of case files, records, discovery materials, correspondence, and electronically stored information.
- Draft and assist with discovery requests and responses, subpoenas, notices, chronologies, summaries, and other litigation-related documents.
- Gather, review, organize, and summarize medical, employment, institutional, and other records relevant to litigation.
- Coordinate document collection, production, and discovery responses.
- Maintain detailed case chronologies, databases, trackers, and reporting tools across a significant litigation docket.
- Assist attorneys with deposition preparation, including organizing exhibits, records, and supporting materials.
- Coordinate with clients, experts, vendors, witnesses, and other parties as necessary.
- Monitor court deadlines, discovery obligations, and case-related milestones.
- Assist with hearing and trial preparation, including exhibits, witness materials, trial notebooks, and other supporting documents.
- Help ensure consistency, accuracy, responsiveness, and accountability across the paralegal team.
- Work closely with attorneys and Firm leadership to identify workflow issues and ensure the paralegal team is effectively supporting the needs of the practice.
What You Will BringOur ideal candidate will have 10+ years of relevant litigation experience and the following credentials/skills:- 10+ years of substantive litigation paralegal experience.
- Prior experience leading, supervising, or coordinating the work of other paralegals or litigation support professionals strongly preferred.
- Significant experience supporting attorneys in complex civil litigation.
- Experience with insurance defense, casualty defense, mass tort, institutional liability, professional liability, or other complex, high-volume defense litigation strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to independently manage a substantial litigation workload and competing deadlines.
- Strong experience with discovery, document management, deposition preparation, and trial preparation.
- Experience reviewing and organizing extensive medical, employment, institutional, or other case-related records.
- Strong organizational and leadership skills with the ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines.
- Demonstrate creative thinking, strong research skills, and superior verbal and written communication skills.
- Microsoft Office proficiency and comfort working with electronic case-management, document-management, and litigation-support systems.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion when working with confidential and sensitive information.
- Proactive work style with the ability to anticipate attorney and team needs.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced litigation environment.
CompensationThe anticipated salary range for this position is
$85,000 - $105,000 annually, depending upon experience, qualifications, and other job-related factors.
