Department Summary

Hughes Network Systems, a global leader in broadband satellite technology based in Gaithersburg, MD, seeks an Operations Program Manager (OPM) reporting directly to the SVP of Operations.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

The Operations Program Manager will be responsible for facilitating new product introductions and managing each stage of the product development life cycle.

What Success Looks Like (Objectives):
  • Organize daily operational activities while initiating, executing, and closing complex NPI projects
  • Drive cross-functional alignment across Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, and Procurement to achieve product goals
  • Develop production tooling, budgets, forecasts, cost targets, and sourcing strategies to optimize lifecycle builds
  • Analyze product structures and Bill of Materials (BOM) to ensure manufacturing accuracy; leverage AI-driven predictive tools to optimize schedules
  • Mitigate potential risks, troubleshoot operational challenges, and present regular progress updates to executive leadership

Skills, Experience and Requirements

Additional Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in industrial engineering, manufacturing engineering, or a related discipline
  • Proficiency in SAP enterprise software along with advanced MS Office skills


Minimum Requirements:
  • Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering, manufacturing engineering, or a related field
  • Minimum Experience: 5+ years of related work experience in operations program management
  • Required Technical Skills:
    • 5+ years of experience managing NPI processes and product lifecycle build activities
    • 5+ years of experience managing product structures, BOM reviews, and manufacturing readiness
    • 5+ years of experience leading cross-functional project teams across engineering, procurement, and operations

Salary Ranges

Compensation: $97,500.00/Year - $130,000.00/Year
