Collins Aerospace's Resilient Connectivity Products (RCP) hardware team is seeking a determined and passionate Senior Mechanical Engineer with emphasis in manufacturing of electronics hardware to support our F16 Modular Mission Computer (MMC) programs in Mckinney, Tx. This engineer will serve as the Lead ME as part of a cross functional team, primarily focused on production and depot sustainment for the F16 MMC. This program provides a critical capability to our domestic and international allied warfighters - and this engineer will play a key role in supporting their readiness through commitment to technical excellence, leadership, and execution.

While the immediate focus is on an established production program, the RCP hardware team also develops next-generation Mission Systems. This role will have opportunities to contribute to new hardware design efforts, including obsolescence-driven redesigns and technology refresh initiatives.

What You Will Do
  • You will apply mechanical engineering principles and techniques to resolve production issues and maintain the qualified technical baseline for the F-16 MMC
  • You will serve as the Lead Mechanical Engineer for the program's Mechanical team, managing daily tasks and priorities.
  • Act as Primary ME interface to Program Management, Chief Engineer, IPT leadership, Operations and Supply Chain
    • Apply cost and schedule management methods to projects
    • Mentor early-career engineers and contribute to continuous improvement efforts
    • Perform mechanical analyses and validate design changes through review, integration, and test support - leveraging subject matter experts as needed.
  • You will collaborate across disciplines to ensure requirements are throughout the product lifecycle, including integration, testing, qualification, production, and sustainment
  • You will address obsolescence and supplier driven changes, oversee supplier verification activities, evaluate non conformances, implement design/cost saving improvements.


What You Will Learn
  • Broaden your knowledge about tactical airborne processing systems and other various engineering disciplines
  • Gain depth in manufacturing of ruggedized electronics, including flex circuits, PWBs, CCAs, castings, metal fabrication, coatings, and finishes.
  • Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles through close working experience with complex electronics assemblies.
  • Learn and take advantage of opportunities to excel professionally with RTX's exceptional employee scholar programs and continuing education
  • Build experience that has enabled past engineers in this role to advance into IPTLs, Analysts, Systems Engineers, Chief Engineers, Section Managers, Department Managers, and Directors across RTX.


Qualifications You Must Have
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
  • Experience with electronic product packaging (Circuit Card Assemblies, Printed Wiring Boards, electronics chassis, etc)
  • Experience with Computer Aided Design (CAD). Includes working knowledge of model creation, interrogation with CAD tools like PTC Creo (preferred), NX or Solidworks to support mechanical designs.


Qualifications We Prefer
  • Experience interfacing with internal and external suppliers. (SOW generation, experience with RTX Operations/Supply Chain processes.
  • Proven experience with machined and sheet metal manufacturing methodologies
  • Knowledge in design for low cost, manufacturability and small volume packaging
  • Experience with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Familiarity with bid, proposal and earned value methods
  • Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and/or Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and associated analysis methodologies
  • Design experience
  • Lead Mechanical Engineering experience

The salary range for this role is 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
