Senior Mechanical Engineer - HealthcareJob Summary: The senior level mechanical engineer completes mechanical design for healthcare projects from project start through project finish.
Responsibilities:Owns complex mechanical projects from start to finish.
- Performs individual aspects of mechanical engineering as it relates to individually assigned projects. This is inclusive of, but not limited to the following:
o HVAC - Split system/Package Heat Pumps, Chilled Water/Hot Water
Hydronics, Steam/Condensate, Constant volume and variable volume air
distribution systems.
o Plumbing - Medical gas systems, Hot and cold water/waste and vent
systems, Compressed air systems.
o Fire Protection - Performance drawings and specification for wet pipe and
dry pipe systems.
- Assigns and manages tasks to Mechanical Engineers, Mechanical Consultants I, II, and III.
- Manages cross-discipline coordination both internal and external to our company.
- Performs appropriate field work to determine a design direction, including making educated decisions on system upgrades.
- Performs self QC on work and plans for/seeks appropriate peer review of work.
- Manages the mechanical peer review/ QC of work performed by others at our company.
- Is a leader for office in mechanical technical situations.
- Manages Clients related to mechanical engineering design.
- Attends and directs pre-bid and pre-construction meetings for mechanical projects.
- Manages the mechanical construction process: RFI's, owner/ architect/contractor meeting attendance, submittals, construction observation site visits and reports.
- Determine the scope of services required for mechanical projects which may include conducting field surveys, meeting with clients, analysis and selection of systems, evaluating project budgets, completing design documents and technical specifications.
- Develop fee proposals for mechanical engineering projects.
- Manage mechanical engineering projects both internal to DWG and external.
- Technical expert for DWG related to Mechanical Engineering. Present at local technical conferences on mechanical topics and attends project interviews and marketing events.
Supervisory Responsibilities - Provides mentoring to Mechanical Engineers and Mechanical Consultants.
Qualifications and Experience:- Educational Background: Bachelor's or master's degree in mechanical engineering or an Architectural Engineering Degree
- Certifications/Registrations: PE, registered in South Carolina and other states as required
- Experience: 10+ years
- Other Skills / Abilities:
- Ability to work in Revit/Microsoft Office/ HVAC Load Analysis Program (HAP or TRACE)
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
- Excellent customer service capabilities.
- Ability to work more than 40 hours per week to meet project deadlines.
- Ability to drive to project sites and perform customary field work.
- Must have a valid driver's license.
- Able to work in the United States.
- Process correspondence efficiently, accurately and confidentially.
- Work independently and in a team environment
