Location: Kent, OHPosition SummaryAs a Senior Mechanical Engineer at APTYX you will be responsible for participating in the design/build process of mechanical dip molding systems from schematics, preparing detailed mechanical engineering drawings and performing design calculations. As part of our integrated design teams, you will interact with clients and electrical engineers during the design process to create Dip Coating and Molding systems for medical devices and other industries.
The successful candidate will- Develop project objectives, goals, and design milestones.
- Develop mechanical designs that meet customer requirements, from concept through completion of construction.
- Prepare engineering design calculations and layouts.
- Coordinate mechanical design requirements with in-house fabrication and assembly departments as well as outside subcontractors.
- Implement designs that are ergonomic and easy to assemble and maintain.
- Conduct research of design and engineering methods required for the mechanical systems.
- Support manufacturing of machinery and implement design changes and revisions as required.
- Possess a sound knowledge of machine design and engineering principles and best practices.
- Perform selection of pneumatic and mechanical components based on machine function.
- Apply basic business acumen and budgeting principles when making engineering and project decisions.
Required Qualifications- Bachelor of Science Degree (ABET accredited) in Mechanical Engineering
- 7+ years machine design experience
- Proficient with SolidWorks and PDM Vault
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Well organized, have excellent communication skills for vendor and customer interface and have excellent writing skills.
Preferred Qualifications- Machine design experience involving pick and place machines and/or robots.
