Position SummaryOdyssey has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Acquisition Program Materials Engineer with carbon fiber composites expertise to support the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center Agile Weapons Division ARRW program (AFLCMC/EBX ARRW). This position provides the knowledge and experience to efficiently and effectively deliver weapons systems engineering capabilities in support of the acquisition process.
This position is located onsite at Eglin AFB, Florida. 9/80 work schedule is available.
Responsibilities
Duties may include, but are not limited to:
- Assist with the design, development, qualification, and testing of warheads, including mechanical design, manufacturing, energetic fills, and aircraft integration.
- Test plan design, review and/or oversight
- Material review and qualification testing
- Support penetration modeling (such as Penetration Curve/PENCURV), fragmentation and penetration performance analysis, fatigue and stress analysis, and insensitive munitions work in accordance with MILADSTDAD810G and MILADSTDAD2105C.
- Provide materials engineering support, including identifying suitable materials, advising on material composition and processing, and developing or improving fabrication and processing techniques.
- Perform testing and evaluation of materials, corrosion control, failure analysis, and contribute to developing or revising inspection techniques, specification standards, and maintenance procedures across the product life cycle.
- Travel to supplier and test sites
Qualifications
Minimum Required Qualifications:
Citizenship: Must be a US Citizen
Clearance: Current Secret Clearance with ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance
Education and experience:
- Bachelor of Science degree in related discipline and 8 years of relevant experience; OR Master of Science degree in related discipline and 6 years of relevant experience; OR PhD in related discipline and 2 years of relevant experience
- Experience with composites (preferably carbon fiber)
Preferred Qualifications
- Current Top Secret clearance
- Knowledge of carbon process flow manufacturing techniques
- Familiarity with high temperature materials testing
- Experience with quality testing and review
- Experience developing and reviewing test plans
- Experience with armament systems (air-to-air, air-to-surface munitions, missiles, or related systems)
- Knowledge of DoD acquisition lifecycle processes and DoDI 5000 series
