Title: Senior Marketing Manager
Report to: Director of Business Development
Location: Seattle, WA or Long Beach, CA or West Coast remote
Salary Range: $145,000 - $160,000 (depending on experience). This role is also eligible for an annual performance-based bonus. Bonus eligibility and payout are determined by role, individual performance, and company performance, and are not guaranteed.
Summary:
The Senior Marketing Manager is responsible for leading the planning, management, and execution of strategic proposals, qualifications packages, interview presentations, and other business development collateral for a professional engineering, commissioning, and construction management services firm. This role serves as a key partner to firm leadership, market leaders, project managers, and technical staff, ensuring pursuit strategies are translated into compelling, compliant, and client-focused submissions that support the firm's growth objectives.
The Senior Marketing Manager provides both hands-on proposal leadership and team management, overseeing pursuit processes, quality standards, workload prioritization, and marketing resources while fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Proposal Leadership and Management
- Lead the pursuit process for high-priority RFQs, RFPs, SOQs, interviews, and presentations.
- Develop pursuit schedules, assignment matrices, compliance checklists, and production plans.
- Facilitate kickoff meetings, strategy sessions, and proposal reviews.
- Collaborate with technical teams to develop win themes, differentiators, and client-focused messaging.
- Manage proposal development from opportunity identification through final submittal.
- Review solicitation requirements and establish submission strategies that maximize compliance and competitiveness.
- Oversee final quality assurance and quality control reviews prior to submission.
- Ensure all submittals are completed accurately, professionally, and on schedule.
Strategic Pursuit Support
- Collaborate with market leaders and business developers on pursuit strategy and positioning.
- Participate in opportunity planning, go/no-go evaluations, and capture strategy development.
- Help identify competitive advantages, project experience, and staffing approaches that strengthen pursuits.
- Support interview preparation, presentation development, and coaching of presenters.
- Analyze client priorities and evaluation criteria to enhance proposal responsiveness.
Content Development and Knowledge Management
- Manage and maintain proposal resources, templates, resumes, project sheets, boilerplate content, and marketing collateral.
- Develop and improve standardized content while ensuring customization for each pursuit.
- Ensure project descriptions, staff qualifications, and firm narratives remain current and accurate.
- Establish best practices for proposal content management and documentation.
Team Leadership and Development
- Supervise and mentor proposal staff.
- Establish workload priorities and resource assignments.
- Provide coaching, performance feedback, and professional development opportunities.
- Promote collaboration across offices, markets, and disciplines.
- Support recruiting, onboarding, and training of marketing personnel.
Process Improvement and Operational Excellence
- Continuously evaluate and improve pursuit workflows, tools, and production processes.
- Track pursuit metrics, win rates, and proposal performance trends.
- Recommend process improvements that enhance efficiency, quality, and consistency.
- Lead implementation of marketing technologies and proposal management systems.
Collaboration and Relationship Management
- Build strong working relationships with technical leaders, project managers, and business development staff.
- Serve as a trusted advisor during pursuit planning and execution.
- Coordinate with external partners, subconsultants, and teaming organizations during proposal development.
- Support the firm's overall business development, brand, and client relationship efforts.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Business, English, Public Relations, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of marketing and proposal management experience within architecture, engineering, construction, environmental consulting, or other professional services industries.
- Minimum 2 years of staff management experience.
- Demonstrated experience managing complex, high-value proposals and qualifications packages.
- Strong understanding of public-sector and private-sector procurement processes.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
- Advanced proficiency in Adobe Create Suite (primarily InDesign), Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with Hubspot, OpenAsset, Asana is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in architecture, engineering, construction (A/E/C), commissioning, or consulting industries.
- Experience leading interview preparation and presentation development.
- Familiarity with CRM and resource management systems such as Hubspot, OpenAsset, Asana, or similar platforms.
- Experience managing multi-office or geographically dispersed marketing personnel.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment
- Ability to work at a computer workstation for extended periods.
- Occasional travel to P2S office locations in Seattle, Long Beach, and San Diego
- Ability to lift and transport proposal materials up to 25 pounds as needed.
- Ability to work flexible hours when pursuit deadlines require.
