Full Job Description
About the Role

This is a critical extension of our current MarTech function to bring Marketing Engineering across all our growth and marketing functions. Marketing is being rebuilt around AI: agentic workflows, a connected data foundation spanning renter behavior, pricing and supply signals, and channel engagement, and a fundamentally faster way of getting campaigns into market. You'll set the direction for where automation actually creates leverage - starting with our AEO and content engine, lifecycle marketing, and paid channels (Google, Meta) - and build outward from there. You'll partner with Marketing leadership with real license to challenge how things have always been done, and the technical depth to make those changes stick.

Here's what you'll do as part of the team

  • Define the technical vision and roadmap for how AI and automation get applied across marketing, prioritizing where agentic workflows create outsized leverage rather than incremental speed
  • Build the data foundation connecting renter behavior, pricing/supply signals, channel engagement, and conversion outcomes, establishing it as the system every future automation and targeting decision runs on
  • Design, build, and ship production agents and automations across AEO/content, lifecycle marketing, and paid channels, establishing the technical patterns future hires on this team will follow and acting at the principal builder leveraging Profound's agent marketpace
  • Lead the assessment of LLM data inclusion, selection criteria and help address gaps within OpenAI/Claude and others.
  • Set the standard for how marketing rethinks core processes rather than just speeding them up - for example, defining the right human-in-the-loop model for content, or whether social can run largely off data we already have
  • Establish the working relationship between marketing and engineering, ensuring marketing's systems and data requirements are integrated cleanly into the broader engineering org's standards
  • Run every new workflow or automation as a testable hypothesis, and codify what works into playbooks, templates, and systems the rest of the team builds on
  • Partner directly with content, lifecycle, and paid channel owners to find where the real friction and opportunity live, and translate technical builds into business impact for non-technical stakeholders

Here are the skills and experience you'll need to be successful

Must-haves:

  • Deep experience combining marketing execution with engineering - technical marketing, marketing engineering, growth engineering, or a similar hybrid background - with a demonstrated ability to set technical direction, not just execute against one
  • Strong programming ability (Python, JavaScript, or similar), with experience building automations, API integrations, or data pipelines end-to-end
  • Hands-on experience building custom AI agents or LLM-powered tools - not just configuring pre-built ones - with a track record of finding novel, practical applications for agentic workflows
  • Demonstrated ability to operate with minimal direction inside a genuinely undefined mandate - you build the frame, not just fill it in
  • Experience pulling in data from outside marketing (pricing, product, lifecycle) and using it to establish a shared foundation others can build on
  • Systems thinking - a track record of building for reuse and scale rather than one-off fixes
  • Experience translating technical builds into business impact for non-technical stakeholders, and influencing outcomes across teams without direct authority

Nice-to-haves:

  • Direct experience with Profound or a similar AEO/AI-search marketing platform, ideally including building on an agent marketplace
  • Multi-channel marketing experience spanning AEO/GEO, content operations, lifecycle/CRM, or paid performance (Google Ads, Meta Ads)
  • Experience in a consumer marketplace or high-growth tech environment
