About the RoleLatentView is seeking a
Senior Market Researcher, AI & Research Ecosystem to join a flagship engagement with the research organization of a globally leading technology company.
In this role, you will serve as the
research-intelligence lead for the global scientific, technological, and academic ecosystem surrounding the organization. You will identify and map macro research trends, track advances from competitors, academic labs, and venture-backed AI companies, and translate complex technical signals into clear, executive-ready insights.
This is
research intelligence-not traditional market segmentation. Your focus will span foundation models, breakthrough research papers, leading technical conferences, open-source ecosystems, and applied AI across areas such as health, education, climate and weather, sustainability, and quantum computing.
You will operate with a high degree of independence, bringing together technical understanding, research rigor, creative intelligence-gathering, and exceptional communication skills.
What You'll Do- Own end-to-end research intelligence programs: Define research questions, structure the analytical approach, manage the workplan, and deliver high-quality outputs with minimal supervision and typically 1-2 check-ins per week.
- Monitor the AI/ML scientific landscape: Track emerging research labs, technical breakthroughs, scientific trends, and market shifts to identify developments relevant to research leadership.
- Benchmark strategic positioning: Assess developments presented at NeurIPS, ICML, CVPR, and other leading venues, as well as activity across open-source communities and venture-backed AI labs.
- Develop creative intelligence-gathering approaches: Use custom web scraping, bibliometric analysis, OSINT, alternative data sources, and automated tracking to collect and monitor high-value signals.
- Synthesize complex information rapidly: Analyze large volumes of external research and intelligence and translate them into executive briefings, landscape maps, ecosystem deep-dives, and strategic perspectives-often on tight timelines.
- Create executive-ready content: Write concise analytical memos and narrative documents and develop visually refined presentations for research leadership and senior executives.
- Represent the team independently: Participate confidently in internal and external meetings, communicate findings clearly, and serve as a credible research-intelligence representative.
What You Bring - Required- 8-10 years of experience in competitive intelligence, market research, technology strategy, research analysis, or a related field, with substantial exposure to AI/ML.
- Deep technical fluency in AI/ML: You can understand technical research, explain why a paper or development matters, assess what it does and does not demonstrate, and identify its potential implications.
- A demonstrated track record of analyzing scientific research trends, academic labs, technical conferences, open-source communities, AI startups, or emerging technologies-rather than primarily conducting general sales, marketing, or UX research.
- Exceptional executive communication and writing skills, with the ability to produce concise, insight-led memos and narrative briefs that lead with the answer.
- Strong presentation design and storytelling skills, with experience creating compelling materials for Director- and VP-level audiences.
- The ability to transform ambiguous ecosystem questions into structured, rigorous, and actionable analysis.
- A highly self-directed, fast-moving working style, with strong ownership and the ability to deliver independently.
- Based in, or willing to work from, the Bay Area, New York City, or London, with authorization to work in the relevant location.
Nice to Have- Hands-on data-collection and research-automation experience, including Python, web scraping, APIs, or automated tracking tools.
- Experience working with research and technology data sources such as arXiv, OpenAlex, Semantic Scholar, GitHub, and Hugging Face.
- Experience with bibliometric, citation, patent, or research-impact analysis.
- Previous experience at an AI research lab, deep-tech strategy group, venture-intelligence firm, technology research organization, or research and advisory firm.
- An advanced degree in a technical or scientific discipline.
- Familiarity with applied-science AI domains such as climate and weather, health, materials science, sustainability, or quantum computing.
