Full Job Description

Job Purpose

As a Senior Manufacturing Quality Engineer, you will serve as the technical quality lead for active volume production lines delivering high-consequence metal components for consumer technology programs. You will partner with Manufacturing, Operations, and Customer Quality teams to drive continuous yield optimization, establish Statistical Process Control (SPC) frameworks, govern PFMEAs, and lead 8D root-cause investigations to prevent quality escapes during high-volume production ramps.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as the primary technical quality authority for assigned consumer electronics lines; systematically analyze line yield data, Pareto trends, and Cpk metrics to drive variation reduction.
  • Lead cross-functional root-cause investigations for complex mechanical, metallurgical, or cosmetic defects; enforce robust, data-driven Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) across production.
  • Own and maintain production quality documentation including Process FMEAs (PFMEA), Quality Control Plans (QCP), and Statistical Process Control (SPC) monitoring for Critical-To-Quality (CTQ) features.
  • Partner with customer quality teams on technical inquiries, First Article (FAIR) approvals, and line qualification audits; ensure seamless change control (ECO) execution without disrupting output.
  • Evaluate incoming raw material quality metrics (e.g., metal powder lots, raw stock chemistry) and partner with supplier quality to resolve material-induced defect modes.
  • Lead daily quality standups with manufacturing engineers, line leads, and floor technicians, embedding a culture of defect prevention and zero-escape quality.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of progressive Quality Engineering experience in consumer technology, high-volume hardware manufacturing, or precision metal component production.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Quality Engineering, or related technical field; equivalent hands-on experience will also be considered.
  • Deep command of high-volume quality tools (8D, SPC / Cpk analysis, GD&T, PFMEA, Control Plans, MSA/Gauge R&R, and AQL sampling).
  • Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001 / ISO 13485 quality systems, engineering change management, and high-rate mass production (MP) ramp environments.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Direct experience with Tier-1 consumer electronics OEM quality standards, metal additive manufacturing (LPBF), or precision post-processing/machining workflows.
  • ASQ certifications (CQE, CRE) or Six Sigma Green/Black Belt certification.

VulcanForms offers a competitive salary and equity package. Actual compensation is based on factors such as the candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience. In addition, VulcanForms provides comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, and life insurance; generous paid time off; and a 401(k) plan with company match.
