Senior Manufacturing Engineering Specialist
Job Overview

The Senior Manufacturing Engineering Specialist serves as the technical authority for manufacturing process design, readiness, and performance across product and process families. This role is responsible for manufacturing system strategy, leading capital investments, driving continuous improvements in quality and delivery, and ensuring customer and regulatory requirements are met.

The successful candidate will support manufacturing readiness for new product introductions and major product changes while leading process improvements, technical investigations, and strategic engineering projects. This position plays a key leadership role in advancing manufacturing capability, operational excellence, and long-term business performance.
Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the implementation and execution of manufacturing process strategies.
  • Support manufacturing readiness for new product introductions (NPI) and major product changes, including DFM/DFA reviews, risk management, and readiness assessments.
  • Evaluate new manufacturing technologies, automation solutions, equipment, and tooling, providing recommendations based on technical and operational requirements.
  • Develop capital investment proposals, including technical justifications, ROI analyses, and vendor assessments.
  • Monitor and respond to manufacturing performance trends, including yield, scrap, process capability, and throughput.
  • Lead and support root cause investigations for complex, recurring, or high-impact manufacturing and test issues.
  • Develop and implement corrective actions that improve process stability, capability, and long-term manufacturing performance.
  • Create and maintain manufacturing standards, best practices, process documentation, and lessons learned.
  • Mentor Process Engineers and other engineering team members through technical guidance and review.
  • Lead engineering projects including scope definition, planning, risk assessment, stakeholder coordination, and execution.
  • Serve as a senior technical resource for PCBA manufacturing, independently solving complex manufacturing challenges and providing technical recommendations.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to drive systemic improvements and organizational change.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or an equivalent discipline.
  • Minimum 7 years of manufacturing engineering experience within an electronics or electro-mechanical manufacturing environment.
  • Advanced knowledge and application of manufacturing engineering principles.
  • Expert knowledge of IPC standards and regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Proven experience leading NPI manufacturing readiness activities.
  • Proven experience developing and justifying capital investment initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex technical projects and deliver successful outcomes.
  • Strong understanding of business and financial impacts when making technical decisions.
  • Experience analyzing manufacturing performance metrics and implementing process improvements.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional technical decision-making.
  • Exceptional project leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Salary Information:

The pay range for this role in Canada is: $82,000- $120,000 CAD
