Full Job Description
Practice Overview: Ankura’s Health Care team is a recognized leader in health care and life sciences disputes, compliance, and investigations. The team combines clinical, technical, operational, financial, economic, and analytic expertise to help clients and counsel resolve complex matters involving payers, providers, pharmacies, and law firms. Role Overview: The Senior Managing Director will be an executive-level, self-sustaining rainmaker who originates, sells, leads, and testifies in complex healthcare commercial disputes. The role requires a credible marketplace presence with health plans, law firms, and healthcare-focused private equity or strategic stakeholders. Responsibilities:
  • Proven, tangible business development record with the ability to produce at least $3M in revenue and a target opportunity to generate $3M to $5M+ annually
  • Manage and deliver results for a portfolio of projects, which typically includes eight or more active engagements.
  • Direct and review the development of complex analyses for provider and payer disputes and investigations.
  • Supervise data collection and analysis, medical record review, the analysis of coding and billing of claims, quality control procedures, and the production of reports.
  • Apply innovative analytic techniques to engagements.
  • Responsible for engagement planning, as well as managing and building client relationships.
  • Prepare and deliver client communications, both written and oral, for senior level review.
  • Serve as a testifying expert.
  • Develop, supervise, and motivate a team of high performing consultants.
  • Demonstrate exceptional leadership capabilities through mentorship and the development of colleagues.
  • Participate in relationship building through networking activities and other sales and marketing initiatives.
  • Contribute meaningfully to practice development efforts, such as attendance at industry conferences and generation of written and spoken thought leadership.
  • Be a key contributor to Go to Market strategies and campaigns designed around key industry issues that contribute to the firm and practice’s growth.
  • Participate in recruiting of new hires to the practice.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in business, finance, clinical, health care operations, or a related discipline.
  • RN preferred
  • Coding certifications are a plus.
  • Ten or more years of experience in litigation/disputes consulting, or other consulting roles providing forensic and disputes work.
  • Previous industry experience with a provider or payer is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of legal and regulatory issues that affect health care organizations.
  • Familiarity with the analysis of health care financial and operational data sets.
  • Experience authoring expert reports, rebuttal reports, declarations, affidavits, or damages analyses; prior deposition, arbitration, trial, or hearing testimony strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare legal, regulatory, reimbursement, and operational issues affecting payers, providers, pharmacies, and government program participants.
  • Exceptional executive communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical, analytic, reimbursement, and damages issues to boards, C-suite clients, law firms, regulators, mediators, arbitrators, judges, and juries.
  • Demonstrated commitment to privilege, confidentiality, work-product discipline, expert independence, collaboration, quality, and team development.
  • Ability and willingness to travel; must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship now or in the future.
