Senior Manager, Test Engineering

Location: Nashua, NH or Lowell, MA

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Manager of Test Engineering to lead the Test Engineering organization supporting advanced semiconductor assembly, microelectronics packaging, RF/microwave products, and high-reliability manufacturing operations.

This role is responsible for leading a team focused on production test support, yield improvement, test system performance, fixturing, calibration, automation, and operational excellence. The Senior Manager will play a critical role in ensuring test readiness, maximizing factory performance, and supporting increasingly complex module and system-level test requirements. The position will work closely with Product Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, Quality, and Program Management to deliver world-class quality, delivery, and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Development
• Lead and develop a high-performing Test Engineering organization.
• Establish clear priorities, accountability, and performance expectations across the team.
• Drive technical development, mentorship, and succession planning.
• Build organizational capability to support future growth and increasing product complexity.

Production Test & Sustaining Engineering
• Own day-to-day test engineering support for manufacturing operations.
• Drive yield improvement, test time reduction, throughput optimization, and factory efficiency.
• Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis of product, process, and test-related issues.
• Ensure rapid resolution of production test failures.

Test Systems & Infrastructure
• Oversee test platforms, test software, fixturing, instrumentation, calibration programs.
• Develop and implement standardized test solutions across products and manufacturing areas.
• Ensure test equipment reliability, performance, and capacity meet business requirements.
• Support equipment upgrades, modernization efforts, and automation initiatives.

New Product Introduction & Technology Transfer
• Partner with Product and Development Engineering teams to ensure successful product launches.
• Drive Design-for-Test (DFT) and Manufacturing Test Strategy reviews.
• Ensure test readiness for new products, technologies, and customer programs.
• Support production transfers and test process validation activities.

Continuous Improvement & Operational Excellence
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, cost, delivery, and productivity.
• Utilize Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies to improve performance.
• Develop metrics and dashboards to monitor test performance and organizational effectiveness.
• Establish best practices and standardized engineering processes.

Customer & Business Support
• Support customer audits, technical reviews, and corrective action activities.
• Participate in business reviews and customer escalation management.
• Collaborate with Operations leadership to support revenue growth and capacity expansion initiatives.
• Act as a key technical interface for critical customer programs.

Qualifications

Required
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Physics, or related technical discipline.
• 10+ years of experience in Test Engineering, Product Engineering, or Manufacturing Engineering.
• 5+ years of leadership experience managing engineering teams.
• Experience supporting electronic assemblies, semiconductor products, RF/microwave devices, modules, or complex electro-mechanical systems.
• Strong understanding of production test methodologies, data analysis, troubleshooting, and root cause investigation.
• Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams in a manufacturing environment.

Preferred
• Master's degree in Engineering or Business Administration.
• Experience in semiconductor assembly, aerospace, defense, space, medical, or other high-reliability industries.
• Experience with automated test equipment (ATE)
• Lean Six Sigma certification or equivalent operational excellence training.

RSU Eligible

This position is eligible to receive restricted stock unit (RSU) awards and cash bonuses, solely at MACOM's discretion, subject to individual and company performance.

Salary Range

The Salary Range for this position is $155,000 - $216,000. Actual salary offered to candidate will depend on several factors, including but not limited to, work location, relevant candidates' experience, education, and specific knowledge, skills, and abilities.
