Senior Manager, Project Manager | National Market Engagement Leader

The Role:

As the National Market Engagement Leader for the Capital One Café Signature Experiences team, you will define both the national and local community engagement strategy and lead a team to deliver mission-driven community initiatives across our network. In this role, you will be accountable for the development of trust-based relationships with local civic, business, and government organizations, serving as the face of our brand within the community. You will partner closely with Café Market Executives (Regional Managers) and local Market Engagement Leads to cultivate deep market expertise, and build localized strategies that drive community engagement and brand credibility. Combining rigorous project management with dynamic people leadership, you will lead the Market Engagement Team to execute in-Café programming and elevate our brand via high-impact community experiences.

Key Responsibilities:

Market Engagement Strategy & Sourcing:

  • Define the National hyper-local community engagement strategy and intent of the annual event calendar for both regional and national initiatives.

  • Partner with Community Impact & Investment and Café leadership to build tailored, local strategies that drive brand credibility and deliver on our mission.

  • Develop a comprehensive market and local partner portfolio, identifying key regional stakeholders.

  • Work closely with community affairs and corporate communication teams to identify high-impact partnerships.

  • Collaborate with Marketing and Brand teams to extend enterprise sponsorships and partnerships into our Cafes.

Project & Resource Management:

  • Lead complex projects and programs by providing clear strategic direction to project teams, peers, and direct reports.

  • Manage robust market entry project plans in a complex environment; adjusting quickly as needed.

  • Own the Market Engagement budget, managing 3rd party vendor partnerships while ensuring purchase orders (POs), invoices, and contracts are accurately processed and paid.

  • Bring a proven track record of quickly establishing order, structure, and clarity within highly dynamic and ambiguous environments.

Risk, Compliance & Governance:

  • Ensure all projects are documented to mitigate risk, maintain compliance, and meet deliverables.

  • Act as the primary accountable well-managed partner throughout the event proposal processconsulting, reviewing, approving proposals, and guiding Market Engagement through the Well Managed Risk Review process.

Relationship Management & Communication:

  • Leverage sharp problem-solving abilities and exceptional influencing skills to drive results through the team and deliver on strategic intent.

  • Partner deeply with internal partners and stakeholders at all levels to provide tactical and strategic thought leadership that drives alignment.

  • Actively collaborate with Global Enterprise Affairs to bring new business and organizational relationships into the aligned markets.

  • Deliver a cohesive, mission-driven output of National community engagement in partnership with key stakeholders and partners leveraging compelling brand storytelling and communication.

  • Collaborate and share best practices with Customer Engagement & Community Leads in markets nationwide to maintain strategic consistency.

People Leadership:

  • Lead and develop a moderate-sized team responsible for managing high-impact, mission-driven programs in our Cafes, providing strategic direction and fostering an inclusive, empowering, and inspiring environment.

  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time to attend regional and national meetings, community functions, and events.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelors Degree or Military experience

  • At least 5 years of experience in Project Management

  • At least 5 years of experience in People Management

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Masters Degree or MBA

  • 6+ years of experience in Project Management

  • 6+ years of experience in People Management

  • PMP, Lean, Agile, or Six Sigma certification

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

McLean, VA: $177,700 - $202,800 for Sr Manager, Project ManagementRichmond, VA: $161,500 - $184,300 for Sr Manager, Project Management










Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidates offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
