Job DescriptionWe are seeking a Senior Manager, Pitches and Proposals to join K&L Gates. Candidates must be self-starters who possess the ability to work independently and as part of a team. The Pitches and Proposals Senior Manager will participate in development and provide strategic guidance for formal RFP responses and informal proposals while seamlessly interfacing with internal stakeholders to ensure successful outcomes. The Pitches and Proposals Senior Manager is expected to understand the firm's practices and their distinguishing characteristics such that he or she can draft original content and maintain existing content through regular updating. Work with lawyers and practice group leaders to understand their needs and drive the development of compelling proposal materials. Essential duties are performed personally or in conjunction with other members of the Client Growth team. The Pitches and Proposals Senior Manager will exercise discretion and independent judgment while working under the general direction of the Director of the Pitches and Proposals COE and according to established firm policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
• Develop and implement the overall strategy, process, procedures, and schedule for RFP responses, proposals, and pitch materials.
• Develop an intimate working knowledge of the firm, its practice groups, and the industries it serves to ensure a deep understanding of firm offerings and capabilities.
• Manage the overall strategy, process, and procedures from start to finish for RFP responses and pitch materials.
• Develop best practice guidelines relating to the pitch and proposal management process and identify and resolve roadblocks or complications.
• Provide strategic guidance for RFP responses, pitches, and proposals.
• Act as primary lead in the development of tailored and responsive content for RFP, pitch, and proposal opportunities
• Act as subject matter expert in relation to training partners on resources and the pitch and proposal process.
• Collaborate with partners in identifying a well-developed strategy for complex RFP response and coordinate participation across practice groups and regions.
• Oversee project plans (timelines, milestones, and deliverables) tailored to RFP meet requirements.
• Monitor pitch and proposal RFP activity, including follow-up activities with lawyers, to identify areas of opportunity or potential enhancements.
• Conduct Post Pitch Reviews, internal and external and document and share results and best practices with internal stakeholders.
• Mentor and supervise junior Pitches and Proposals team members as required.
• Responsible for reporting updates to the Director of Pitches and Proposals
• Support and work with the Director of Pitches and Proposals on projects and key initiatives.
• Stay up to date on industry trends and best practices.
• Ensure all Pitches and Proposals COE Policy and Procedures are followed and implemented.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES
EXPERIENCE SKILLS REQUIRED
• Ten or more years of related experience is required; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Business or related field, J.D. desirable.
• Experience working on proposals, reading and analyzing requests for proposals (RFPs); significant business development experience is required.
• Prior experience working in a large legal or professional services firm is preferred. Industry knowledge and experience are also preferred.
• Must be a motivated self-starter, exhibit a high degree of initiative and proactivity, and be comfortable and skilled at providing counsel on sophisticated business development strategies in several different legal areas.
• Exceptional organization and ability to work in deadline-driven environments and work within teams to complete projects is required.
• Proactive with excellent troubleshooting, problem resolution, and follow-through skills.
• Exhibit a high degree of initiative in managing multiple priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, detail-oriented work environment utilizing excellent judgment, administrative abilities, and decision-making skills.
• Excellent project management skills in order to develop project plans, coordinate projects, communicate changes and progress, complete projects on time and within budget and manage project team activities.
• Ability to communicate with courtesy and diplomacy and exercise independent judgment in the handling of complex relationships.
• Outstanding interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. Must be skilled at developing meaningful, substantive relationships with a diverse group of attorneys and cultivating them over time.
• Supervisory and managerial skills necessary in order to provide instruction, direction and training, determine work priorities and coordinate the activities of the team.
• Ability and availability to travel to other firm locations as required.
• Power user of the MS Office suite including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat and proficient in using graphics tools within these applications.
• Experience using Saturno Experience and Proposal Center a plus.
ADDITIONAL ABILITIES REQUIRED
• Desk position requiring a combination of sedentary, walking and standing activities.
• Daily use of personal computer.
• Frequent use of telephone, mfp and other office equipment as needed.
Compensation Salary $111,800- $216,600 / year
The compensation salary for this position will be determined during the interview process and will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to prior experience, relevant expertise, current business needs, and market factors.
