Who we needReporting to the Senior HR Director, you will lead the evolution of HR Operations at Altus Group, building the processes, governance, technology and service practices needed to support our global organization. You will bring structure and ownership to work that is currently distributed across HR, creating clearer accountability, more consistent processes and a better experience for employees, managers and the HR team.
This is a full-time, permanent hybrid role based in Toronto, Ontario.
What's in it for youShape the function. You will join at a pivotal moment for HR Operations, with a mandate to bring dedicated focus to work that is essential to the team's effectiveness. Rather than stepping into a narrow maintenance role, you will define what should be centralized, standardized, documented, measured, automated, or redesigned. You will help establish the operating model for HR Operations and influence how the function evolves as the team grows.
Drive visible impact. Your work will improve how employees, managers, HR Business Partners, and internal teams experience HR support. You will strengthen intake and escalation practices, improve data quality, increase reporting reliability, support audit readiness, and reduce manual effort across recurring processes. With exposure across HR, IT, Payroll, Finance, Legal, and senior HR leadership, you will turn operational friction into measurable improvements that make the team more effective.
Expand through technology. Altus Group is evolving as a technology-focused organization, and HR is continuing to modernize how it works. You will support the rollout and evolution of tools such as ServiceNow, chatbot functionality, Workday improvements, reporting automation, self-service resources, and approved AI-enabled solutions. You will have the opportunity to influence how HR uses technology to improve speed, consistency, access to information, and service quality.
As our new Senior Manager, HR Operations, you will:- Shape and continuously improve the HR Operations model. Assess how operational HR work moves across the organization and determine what should be centralized, standardized, automated, documented or eliminated. Establish scalable processes, service practices and measures that reduce manual effort, clarify ownership and improve the employee and HR experience.
- Create a stronger employee lifecycle experience. You will own the operational processes that support key employee moments, including onboarding, employee changes, organizational updates, and offboarding. You will ensure these processes are accurate, timely, and easy to follow while improving the handoffs, approvals, documentation, and system steps that shape the experience for employees, managers, and HR partners.
- Turn data into operational confidence. You will strengthen how employee, position, and organizational data is maintained, governed, corrected, and reported. You will improve the reliability of recurring and ad hoc workforce reporting, including headcount, talent, organizational, and executive reporting, so HR leaders and business partners can make decisions with greater confidence.
- Move audit readiness upstream. You will shift audit support from a reactive exercise to a more proactive, structured discipline. You will establish stronger routines for documentation, sample readiness, controls, and follow-through, helping the team reduce last-minute effort while improving accuracy, visibility, and confidence in HR processes.
- Translate HR needs into technology priorities. You will partner with HR, IT, Workday and ServiceNow owners, and other technology partners to ensure HR requirements are understood, prioritized, and translated into workable system and process improvements. You will support Workday testing and release readiness while contributing to ServiceNow workflows, chatbot functionality, self-service resources, and approved AI-enabled solutions.
- Drive cross-functional execution. Partner across HR, Payroll, Finance, Legal and IT to clarify ownership, resolve operational issues and ensure decisions turn into sustainable processes and system changes.
- Strengthen operational governance. You will create and maintain the standards, documentation, and knowledge resources that help HR Operations run with consistency and control. This includes the global library of HR letters, templates, guides, forms, and standard operating procedures, as well as policy, legislative, and program updates coordinated with the appropriate owners. You will ensure guidance is current, accessible, easy to apply, and consistently used across the team.
You bring:- HR Operations experience. Experience in HR operations, HR shared services, HR systems or a highly operational HR role supporting employee lifecycle processes in a complex organization.
- A builder mindset. You are comfortable walking into something that is not fully defined, understanding what exists, identifying gaps and building practical solutions without overengineering them.
- HR technology fluency. Hands-on experience with Workday or a comparable HRIS. Experience with ServiceNow, case management, automation, self-service or AI-enabled HR tools is an asset.
- Strong data and governance discipline. You understand the importance of HR data quality, controls, audit readiness, documentation and reliable reporting and can translate that discipline into practical operating practices.
- Continuous improvement capability. You can identify root causes behind recurring errors, delays or manual work and redesign processes to be simpler, clearer and more scalable.
- Judgment and hands-on ownership. You can work confidently with senior and cross-functional stakeholders while remaining close enough to the work to execute yourself. You bring structure to ambiguity, make sound decisions and follow through.
