Join Our Health System Alignment (HSA) Practice

This group provides advisory services to academic and community health systems and universities related to clinical enterprise organizational structure, partnerships and affiliations, governance and management, and funds flow. This includes physician organization strategy, organizational design, and financial arrangements (e.g., clinical and professional services agreements).

Your Opportunity with ECG: Senior Manager

Senior managers at ECG serve as experienced leaders who guide project teams, shape client strategy, manage complex engagements, and contribute to firm growth. They play a central role in advancing client relationships, overseeing significant project components, coaching and developing team members, and contributing to practice and business development initiatives.

Senior managers are influential leaders who drive strategic thinking, operational excellence, and team development across engagements. They oversee major project work, deliver insights that shape client decisions, and cultivate high-performing teams through coaching and mentorship. Senior managers also deepen client relationships, identify emerging opportunities, and help grow ECG's service offerings and market presence-all while modeling the professionalism, judgment, and collaborative spirit that define the firm.

Your Responsibilities May Include

Project Delivery and Client Service
  • Lead large portions of project work, applying advanced project management tools and methodologies to ensure high-quality and timely delivery.
  • Demonstrate mastery across project types, including planning, resource allocation, budget monitoring, and performance oversight.
  • Conduct complex analyses with minimal coaching, ensuring that quantitative and qualitative findings align with client needs and objectives.
  • Integrate insights from multiple data sources and identify proxy or analog data when key information is unavailable.
  • Diagnose root causes of complex issues, apply systemic thinking, and guide teams through rigorous problem-solving approaches.
  • Facilitate strategic and sensitive discussions with client stakeholders, ensuring alignment and buy-in on recommendations.
  • Lead change management efforts and resolve conflicting priorities with strategic foresight.

Team Leadership and People Development
  • Effectively navigate and resolve conflicts; cultivate deep trust and strong commitment among team members.
  • Actively inspire significant positive change within project teams or broader organizational groups.
  • Demonstrate exceptional self-awareness and model adaptive leadership in complex or ambiguous environments.
  • Provide regular coaching and actionable feedback to team members; play an active role in mentoring, skill development, and talent advancement.
  • Support team members in setting and aligning professional goals with project and organizational priorities.
  • Manage team dynamics to empower individuals and the collective to perform at their highest potential. Promote a learning culture that includes informal and formal development opportunities.

Communication
  • Develop communication plans that anticipate cadence, stakeholders, and messaging across the life of a project.
  • Lead large portions of internal and external presentations, setting or adjusting the pace of communication and responding confidently to questions across most content.
  • Facilitate productive dialogue, challenge assumptions appropriately, and integrate diverse perspectives.
  • Communicate with strategic insight, considering organizational dynamics, political implications, and the broader impact of messaging.

Strategic Thinking and Problem-Solving
  • Identify and analyze strategic and systemic problems affecting clients or projects.
  • Use advanced methodologies and tools to diagnose issues with precision and structure.
  • Oversee implementation of key strategic initiatives across teams or functions.
  • Design new methods when standard approaches are insufficient and refine existing processes to improve effectiveness.
  • Identify and manage risks and contingencies across multiple projects, proactively addressing issues that affect scope, timeline, or outcomes.
  • Generate innovative solutions to complex challenges and connect daily work to broader client or organizational goals.

Business Development and Firm Contribution
  • Proactively identify potential market opportunities and pursue or guide resource allocation as appropriate.
  • Introduce relevant colleagues, services, or capabilities to clients to broaden ECG's presence and strengthen relationships.
  • Play a key role in developing and delivering compelling proposals and pitch materials; lead selected pursuits.
  • Begin establishing a reputation as a trusted adviser to clients through strategic insights and relationship-building.
  • Support or lead initiatives to enhance or expand service offerings, products, or go-to-market approaches.
  • Help manage a portfolio of clients, building strong, longitudinal relationships that lead to repeat business.


Qualifications
  • Master's degree in business administration and/or master's degree in a health-related field preferred
  • 8+ years of experience in healthcare consulting or healthcare finance and operations; additional years of experience would be required in place of an advanced degree
  • Experience working with academic health systems on matters related to organizational design, physician alignment, and funds flow strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex projects, oversee teams, and coach talent at multiple levels
  • Advanced experience with data analysis, structured problem-solving, and executive communication
  • Strong business judgment, client management skills, and the ability to navigate dynamic, ambiguous environments
  • Proven ability to contribute to or lead business development activities
  • Commitment to mentoring junior team members and contributing to a positive culture
  • Ability to travel 25% of the time


Job Locations
  • Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Minneapolis, San Diego, or Washington, DC
  • Hybrid work schedule, with a minimum of two days per week in office when not traveling for a client engagement

The estimated base salary range for this job is $205000.00 - $232000.00 annually. It represents a good faith estimate of the range that ECG reasonably expects to pay at the time of the job posting. The actual salary paid will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to years of experience, special skills, and market changes. This job is eligible to participate in ECG's annual incentive compensation program, which reflects ECG's pay-for-performance philosophy. The job is also eligible to participate in ECG's benefit plans, which include medical, dental, and vision coverage, a 401(k) matching program, unlimited PTO, and other wellness programs.
