Full Job Description

The Senior Manager - Global New Product Introduction (NPI) - Systems Hardware is responsible for leading Manufacturing Engineering and Operations readiness for hardware- and systems-based product development programs across Beckman Coulter Life Sciences' global manufacturing network. This leader serves as the critical bridge between R&D, Product Management, Supply Chain, Quality, Regulatory Affairs, Service, and Manufacturing Operations to ensure successful design transfer, manufacturing scale-up, and on-time commercialization of complex life science instrumentation.

This position reports to the Director, Manufacturing Engineering and is part of the Global Manufacturing Engineering & Innovation organization located in Indianapolis, Indiana. This will be an on-site role with global collaboration across U.S., China, and Europe BEC LS manufacturing and development locations as required.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to: 

  • Lead Manufacturing Engineering engagement from product concept through commercialization for hardware and instrument platforms, ensuring safety, quality, delivery, cost, supply continuity, reliability, capacity, and launch objectives are achieved. 

  • Lead governance for the global hardware NPI portfolio, including milestones, resource prioritization, capital plans, risk management, escalation paths, launch metrics, executive reviews, and post-launch stabilization. 

  • Partner with the Director, Manufacturing Engineering to develop and deploy global NPI and manufacturing engineering strategies aligned with business growth, product roadmaps, manufacturing footprint, capacity, lifecycle, and innovation priorities. 

  • Ensure robust design transfer and manufacturing readiness across U.S., China, and Europe locations, including manufacturing requirements, process development, equipment and tooling, pilot builds, test methods, documentation, process validation, production ramp, and issue closure. 

  • Drive Design for Manufacturing, Assembly, Test, Service, Reliability, and Cost in partnership with R&D and other functions, using the Danaher Business System, standard work, visual management, value stream mapping, daily management, kaizen, and structured problem solving. 

  • Lead selected global manufacturing excellence initiatives involving engineering standards, process capability, automation, digital manufacturing, manufacturing technology, test strategy, productivity, value engineering, and continuous cost improvement. 

  • Lead and develop managers, engineers, and technical project leaders across a global matrix; strengthen accountability, technical capability, talent reviews, succession planning, leadership development, inclusion, and mobility across global and site teams. 

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Biomedical, Electrical, Manufacturing, Systems, or a closely related engineering discipline. 

  • Typically 10+ years of progressive experience across engineering, manufacturing, operations, product development, and/or new product introduction. 

  • At least 5 years of people leadership experience, with demonstrated ability to lead managers, engineers, or technical project leaders across locations or in a global matrix. Working knowledge of FDA, ISO, quality-system, design-control, risk-management, verification and validation, change-control, traceability, process-validation, and product-lifecycle requirements. 

  • Demonstrated success launching complex electromechanical, software-enabled, diagnostic, medical device, or life science instrumentation products in regulated manufacturing environments. 

  • Deep experience with design transfer, industrialization, manufacturing readiness, process development and validation, manufacturing test, tooling and equipment, supplier readiness, ramp, and lifecycle support.  

  • Proven ability to translate business and product strategy into engineering priorities, operating mechanisms, investment recommendations, and measurable results. Experience leading portfolio governance, resource prioritization, capital planning, risk reviews, and cross-functional executive decision-making.

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • Master’s degree in engineering, an MBA, PMP certification, Lean Six Sigma certification, or comparable advanced development. 

  • Experience with flow cytometry, centrifugation, liquid handling, particle characterization, genomics, bioprocessing, or comparable scientific instrumentation platforms. 

  • Experience leading global engineering transformation, automation, digital manufacturing, connected equipment, manufacturing data systems, or advanced analytics initiatives. 

  • Experience with site transfers, localization, manufacturing footprint changes, contract manufacturers, supplier development, acquisition integration, or rapid capacity expansion.
