The ideal candidate will be responsible for...
  • Overseeing the firm's eBilling function to ensure the accurate and timely submission of invoices through client-mandated eBilling platforms while maintaining compliance with client billing guidelines and contractual requirements.
  • Leading the team responsible for meeting eBilling deadlines, resolving complex eBilling issues, managing client and matter eBilling setups, and ensuring successful transmission of electronic invoices.
  • Overseeing client and matter rate overrides, managing the Firm's annual rate override reapproval process, and supervising the rate analyst team to ensure accurate and timely processing.
  • Partnering with firm leadership, Billing Managers, Billing Coordinators, attorneys, clients, vendors, and technology teams to resolve issues, improve workflows, and support firmwide eBilling operations.
  • Developing, implementing, and maintaining firmwide eBilling best practices, evaluating workflows, and leading initiatives focused on process improvements, automation, and operational efficiency.
  • Creating and delivering training programs, documentation, and guidance to managers, supervisors, team members, attorneys, and Legal Administrative Assistants to support consistent, scalable operations across all firm offices.

Pay Range for Candidates in Washington, DC: $165,000 - $180,000 per year

The range provided is the minimum and maximum salary that Venable in good faith believes at the time of this posting that it is willing to pay for the advertised position. Exact compensation will be determined based on individual candidate qualifications and location. Additional compensation may include discretionary bonuses and overtime, if eligible. Overtime wages earned will be paid in compliance with applicable law.

CORE REQUIREMENTS:

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or experience equivalent.

Skills & Technical Requirements:
  • Minimum of seven years of law firm e-billing experience.
  • Experience managing work through others.
  • Deep expertise in legal billing workflows and eBilling systems.
  • Strong technology proficiency and the ability to leverage technology and accounting tools to support reporting and client-specific eBilling requirements.
  • Ability to drive large-scale improvements and manage competing priorities.

Preferred Experience:
  • Advanced knowledge of Aderant and eBillingHub billing platforms.
  • Prior leadership of an eBilling function in a law firm.
