Overview
The Senior Manager, Design is a GTM-focused design leader responsible for producing creative work that drives engagement, builds market interest, and supports Mimecast’s demand generation engine across every channel. This is not a conceptual role. It is an execution role with taste — someone who understands how B2B enterprise buyers respond to visual communication, and who builds creative that earns attention and creates interest in a sophisticated, skeptical audience.
This role sits within the design function, reporting to the Director of Brand, and works in close partnership with Demand Generation, Marketing Operations, Field Marketing, and Sales Enablement. You will set the creative standard for how Mimecast shows up across paid media, campaigns, events, digital, and sales materials — directing in-house designers, external agencies, and AI-assisted workflows to deliver at speed without sacrificing quality.
The best candidate for this role is a proactive facilitator, not a passive service-designer. You build relationships across the company using design as a trust-building exercise. You make the brand feel accessible and alive to the teams who rely on it most.
What You'll Do
GTM & Campaign Creative
- Lead design execution across Mimecast’s go-to-market campaigns — from paid digital and social advertising to email, landing pages, event presence, and sales enablement materials
- Partner closely with Demand Generation and Marketing Operations to ensure creative is built for engagement and optimized for the channels and audiences it reaches
- Translate campaign briefs and messaging frameworks into visual executions that resonate with enterprise buyers — CISOs, CIOs, and security decision-makers — and drive measurable interest
- Maintain consistency and quality across a high volume of concurrent campaigns and workstreams
Creative Direction & Quality
- Provide clear, confident creative direction to internal designers, external design agencies, and production vendors
- Review and approve creative outputs across all formats: digital advertising, social, presentations, event materials, video, print, and AI-generated assets
- Own the visual quality bar — not just your own output, but every piece that goes to market under the Mimecast name
- A sharp art director first: you bring genuine taste and a point of view, and you are comfortable delivering critical, constructive feedback to vendors, colleagues, and AI agents alike
AI-Forward Design Practice
- Work fluently with AI generation tools as a core part of your creative process — prompting precisely, evaluating output critically, and integrating generated assets into a coherent visual system
- Help define how Mimecast’s design standards apply inside AI-generated content pipelines, establishing guardrails that maintain quality at scale
- Understand that taste is not a personal preference — it is a standard that must be articulated, defended, and embedded into every tool and workflow the team uses
- Stay ahead of where AI tooling is heading and bring relevant capabilities into the team’s practice
Agency & Budget Management
- Manage day-to-day relationships with external design agencies and production partners
- Hold vendors to timeline, budget, and quality expectations
- Support the Director of Brand in scoping agency work and evaluating deliverables against campaign and GTM objectives
Cross-Functional Partnership
- Work as an integrated partner to Demand Generation, Marketing Operations, Field Marketing, and Sales Enablement — not a design service bureau, but a creative collaborator embedded in the GTM motion
- Engage proactively with stakeholders across functions to understand campaign goals, audience context, and channel requirements before creative begins
- Move fast without sacrificing quality; this team operates at the pace of a company in active market transformation
What You'll BringExperience
- 7+ years of design experience, with significant time in GTM, demand generation, or integrated marketing creative roles
- Demonstrated track record of producing design that drives engagement in a B2B enterprise environment — you understand how security and technology buyers think and what earns their attention
- Experience directing agency and freelance partners, not just executing alongside them
- Background in enterprise technology is a meaningful advantage; this audience is sophisticated and the creative needs to earn credibility, not just visibility
Design Craft
- Deep expertise in digital design: paid media, social, email, landing pages, presentations, event materials, and video at a direction level
- Strong typographic sensibility and compositional instincts applied to performance-oriented creative
- Proficiency across the Adobe Creative Suite; familiarity with Figma expected
- Comfortable operating across both brand-level consistency and campaign-level flexibility — knowing when to hold the system and when to push it
AI Fluency
- Hands-on experience with AI generation tools in a professional design context
- Knows how to construct prompts that produce on-brand, market-ready output — not just visually interesting output
- Can evaluate AI-generated assets critically and integrate them into a coherent visual system without losing quality or consistency
- Has thought about (or built) workflows for how AI generation fits into a high-volume GTM creative operation
Leadership & Communication
- Can give creative direction clearly and constructively — to junior designers, agency partners, and stakeholders who are not designers
- Comfortable presenting creative rationale to senior stakeholders and defending decisions with confidence
- Organized enough to manage multiple active campaign workstreams without dropping quality on any of them
- Understands that the measure of great design in this context is engagement and interest, not aesthetic awards
