OverviewOur Real Estate Tax team continues to grow, and we are seeking a Senior Manager to play a key leadership role in delivering complex tax planning, transaction support, and compliance services to real estate and fund clients.
As a senior leader, you will work closely with KPMG Partners on complex tax planning initiatives and compliance requirements. Your organizational and technical skills will enable you to lead multiple workstreams, direct and review the work of junior professionals, and deliver high-quality outcomes for clients. You will research and develop tax planning strategies, lead the preparation of tax returns, and set the standard for technical excellence while supporting the development of high-performing teams.
What you will do- Lead tax workstreams on Canadian and international real estate acquisitions, dispositions, and entity structures
- Support fund formation for sponsors, including vehicle selection, structure design, financing, Canadian access points, and investor side letters
- Develop and review detailed tax planning memoranda and structure reports for complex transactions
- Advise on joint venture arrangements, sponsor economics, and related tax implications for domestic and foreign investors
- Provide guidance on cross-border matters including interest limitation rules, hybrid structures, foreign exchange and hedging, and withholding tax considerations
- Build and review tax models to quantify after-tax cash flows, tax leakage, and exit scenarios
- Oversee taxable income computations and investor reporting through CDS and other reporting channels
- Manage annual T2, T3, T5013, and NR4 filings, including partner and shareholder allocations across multi-vehicle, multi-asset platforms
What you bring to the role- CPA designation, with completion or near completion of the CPA In-Depth Tax Program or equivalent
- Public accounting firm experience with a focus on corporate, international, real estate, or fund taxation
- Demonstrated experience on cross-border real estate or private equity mandates, including treaty analysis, withholding tax, financing, and entity selection
- Strong project leadership skills, with the ability to manage multiple workstreams and coordinate cross-functional specialists
- Proven ability to translate complex tax issues into clear, practical guidance for non-tax deal teams and clients
- Experience building, reviewing, or overseeing tax models and complex income computations
- Strong client service skills grounded in an understanding of client business objectives
- Commitment to mentoring and developing junior professionals within high-performing teams
KPMG Ontario Pay Range InformationThe expected base salary range for this position is $125,000 to $175,000 and may be eligible for bonus awards. The determination of an applicant's base salary within this range is based on the individual's location, skills & competencies, and unique qualifications. In addition, KPMG offers a comprehensive and competitive Total Rewards program.
