The Advanced Concepts team shapes, surprises and engineers delight into the future guest experience through advanced innovation principles. We go beyond classic research and development methodologies into the realm of possibility for both body and mind within all of the places that our guests & lululemon choose to play together. We need you to bring to life the capabilities of our state of the art Workshop facility through utilization of our unique research, design and technology insights. You will work as part of a lean innovation concept team and partner with the Innovation designer and director to explore product functionality from user needs to first concept through to embodiment prototype.

a day in the life
  • Immerse yourself in the world of the guest, using a design-led approach to define the problems guests are experiencing and frame clear design challenges to solve.
  • Lead multiple complex, ambiguous projects through a design lens, owning concept direction from early exploration through prototyping, validation, and progression to commercialization.
  • Generate and shape new product opportunities through design, connecting insights, form, function, and material expression into new product concepts to fuel the innovation pipeline.
  • Define and hold the design vision across projects, balancing performance, function, and aesthetic to create resolved, compelling product concepts.
  • Research and apply new materials, technologies, and methods of make as inputs to the design process translating exploration into product concepts grounded in guest need and design intent.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Research, Raw Materials Innovation, and vendors to bring design concepts to life using making, experimentation, and iteration to evolve ideas into viable product.
  • Lead and develop a team of designers, elevating their concept creation and craft while reinforcing a design-led approach to problem solving and product innovation.
  • Build, test, and refine prototypes with your team, using design judgement to drive decisions and influencing partners to bring concepts through to in-market product.
qualifications
  • A design-first thinker and maker with formal training in Industrial Design, Apparel / Sport Product Design, or related fields, with a strong foundation in concept creation in apparel.
  • Experience leading, developing, and mentoring designers elevating craft, concept thinking, and a design-led approach to problem solving.
  • Proven ability to design and build compelling product concepts or cohesive systems of solutions that solve clearly defined guest problems and translate into viable product opportunities.
  • Deep expertise in garment construction, materials, and methods of make, with the ability to apply this knowledge through a design lens to inform, elevate, and realise innovative product concepts.
  • Strong point of view on design, with the ability to connect function, performance, and aesthetic into clear, differentiated product direction.
  • Exceptional ability to communicate design intent and vision through sketching, storytelling, and technical artefacts enabling teams to translate concepts into prototypes and product stories.
  • Experience leading concepts from early exploration through prototyping and iteration, with an understanding of how to progress ideas toward commercialised product.
  • Proven ability to navigate ambiguity, working across multiple projects and time horizons while maintaining clarity of design direction and output.

compensation and benefits package

lululemon's compensation offerings are grounded in a pay-for-performance philosophy that recognizes exceptional individual and teamperformance. Thetypical hiring range for this position is from$155,800 - 204,400 CAD annually; the base pay offered is based on market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity. As part of our total rewards offering, permanent employees in this position may be eligible for our competitive annual bonus program and subject to program eligibility requirements.
