About The RoleThe Advisory capability within Avalere Health is focused on the intersection of business strategy, public policy, and patient access. Based in Washington, DC, we work with a diverse range of clients spanning pharmaceuticals, biotech, health plans, government, providers, advocacy and patient groups, and other organizations who seek to improve the healthcare system. Avalere's experts span 150+ staff drawn from Fortune 500 healthcare companies, the federal government (e.g., CMS, OMB, CBO, Congress), top consultancies, and nonprofits. The firm offers deep substance and perspective on the full range of healthcare business issues.
We are seeking a Senior Manager to join our Client Partnerships team, the sales function that drives sales, business development, and revenue generation for the Advisory team. This role focuses on Avalere's Core accounts, where we have established client relationships. The Sr. Manager will be the primary commercial point of contact for an assigned set of Core accounts, with responsibility for growing repeat business, engaging new buying centers, bringing in more of the firm's practices, and closing larger engagements.
The Sr. Manager is a partner to Subject Matter Expert (SME) colleagues across our Policy, Evidence & Strategy, and Market Access practices and is the chief person responsible for driving the commercial aspect of client interactions, including representing Avalere's services, understanding client needs, translating client needs to a compelling proposal, and navigating client procurement to a closed sale.
The Sr. Manager manages client relationships independently and builds trusted advisor status with clients through delivery excellence and strategic insight.
What you'll do- Manage client relationships independently and own the account plan for an assigned set of Core accounts, setting clear goals and turning them into actionable plans.

- Grow repeat business by staying close to client priorities and building on completed work.
- Partner with delivery teams to ensure client engagements and workstreams are delivered successfully, building the credibility that leads to repeat business.
- Bring in more than one practice (Policy, Evidence & Strategy, Market Access) per account where the client need supports it.
- Pursue larger, multi-workstream engagements, not only single projects.
- Lead aspects of proposal development, including organizing pursuit teams and contributing to pricing strategies, to address client needs.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to translate client needs into compelling proposals, solutions, and recommendations that support client decision-making.
- Use healthcare and life sciences market expertise to inform recommendations and client discussions.
- Coordinate opportunity teams to execute on account goals efficiently, clarifying roles, ownership, and next steps and removing blockers.
- Complete a monthly pipeline plan (sales to date, gap to goal, current pipeline, three actions) with your manager, and measure progress against quarterly and annual targets.
- Keep Salesforce current and accurate for every opportunity you own; use data-driven approaches and tools like ZoomInfo, Outreach.io, LinkedIn, and approved AI tools, and share prompts, workflows, and best practices with the team.
- Share account insight with practice leaders and the Client Partnerships team, and support continuous improvement of sales processes by reviewing what worked and what did not.
- Represent Avalere at industry events and professional conferences to deepen relationships with Core clients.
