POSITION PURPOSEThe Global Advanced Technology team, headquartered in Jessup, MD, builds and delivers the technologies that will power Baltimore Aircoil Company's (BAC) next generation of products and growth, owning the end-to-end pipeline from sourcing through delivery of disruptive, New Product Introduction (NPI)-ready technologies that enable BAC to compete and lead in strategic, high-impact markets and applications and realize our vision to reinvent cooling to sustain the world.
The Senior Manager, Advanced Technology leads the function end-to-end, ensuring disciplined execution of the technology pipeline in alignment with BAC strategy and producing high-quality, decision-ready outputs while building scalable capability, with clearly defined performance, risks, operating limits, and IP and partnering positions, enabling BAC to confidently invest, industrialize, and commercialize the right technologies.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES- Lead and scale Advanced Technology across its four core teams: Technology Scouting, Design and Testing, Emerging Technologies, and Heat Transfer Systems, building strong technical depth, cross-domain capability, and a sustainable leadership pipeline
- Own the end-to-end technology pipeline from sourcing to NPI readiness, including portfolio shaping, prioritization, pacing, and trade-offs across technologies, domains, and time horizons, with accountability for pipeline health, balance, and delivery against strategic objectives and growth priorities
- Own and enforce a structured execution model, ensuring consistent delivery of validated, NPI-ready technologies with clearly defined performance, risks, operating limits, and IP and partnering positions, including protection and progression of key inventions and concepts
- Own technology sourcing and partnerships, including direction and performance of the global technology scouting program, leveraging partnerships to identify, mature, and scale key technologies, and execute IP and partnering strategy in coordination with technical, business, and legal stakeholders
- Drive alignment and decision-making with Global Marketing, Global Engineering, Advanced Manufacturing Technology, and other key stakeholders on priorities, resource allocation, and key technology decisions, ensuring development is tightly linked to business needs and transitioned cleanly into NPI
- Own team performance, resource allocation, and budget to deliver results, provide clear visibility into pipeline status, risks, and trade-offs, and build capabilities to scale capacity and impact over time
- Represent BAC externally in technical, industry, and customer-facing settings, engaging with partners and industry groups to support technology development, collaboration, and advancement of key growth initiatives
NATURE AND SCOPEReports to the Global Director, Technology Innovation, and leads a global, cross-functional organization responsible for end-to-end technology development from sourcing through industrialization and transition into NPI to support BAC growth.
Owns the Advanced Technology pipeline across geographies, domains, and time horizons, operating under significant technical and commercial uncertainty, and accountable for pipeline performance, key technology decisions, and maintaining balanced progression from concept through validated, NPI-ready outputs aligned with BAC's strategic priorities.
Requires strong cross-functional leadership and engagement with key Global Engineering and Global/Regional business stakeholders to align priorities, allocate resources, and drive decisions, influencing technology investment, product direction, and BAC's ability to win in target markets, while building scalable technical and organizational capability for sustained impact.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLSRequired Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering; advanced degree preferred
- ~15+ years of applicable progressively complex engineering experience in high-performing R&D and/or New Product Development organizations required; at least 5 years in a directly relevant leadership role preferred
- Proven experience leading technical teams and complex programs from concept to productization-ready outcomes
- Proven experience in technology sourcing, external partnerships, and IP management and execution
- Proven track record of building advanced engineering organizations, playbooks, and scalable processes and capabilities
- Proven experience operating in global, cross-functional engineering environments, including exposure to manufacturing and commercialization interfaces
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Strong engineering judgment and ability to manage technical uncertainty and risk
- Proactive and diligent in holding direct reports accountable to their commitments, and providing prompt, practical constructive feedback
- Ability to assess technology value, make investment trade-offs, and align decisions with business priorities
- Ability to drive alignment and decision-making across broad, diverse groups of global internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to develop technical talent, build leadership capability, and scale high-performing teams over time
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Familiarity with thermal-fluid systems engineering or related fields (e.g., heat transfer, fluid flow, coupled heat and mass transfer), and industrial cooling or mission-critical applications (e.g. data centers)
- Familiarity with advanced digital engineering tools and approaches (e.g. simulation, digital twins, data-driven development) to support accelerated, risk-reducing technology validation and decision-making
BAC Hiring Compensation Range $133,300- $228,600
