Position Summary:

This position is responsible for all activities that occur within the Maintenance department. The Sr. Manufacturing Maintenance Manager operates effectively as a leader with direct responsibility for assuring an efficient, successful and cost-effective operation while developing talent within the team. Responsible to drive all PM initiatives towards proactive and predictive states. Responsible for supporting EPA and OSHA related bakery permitting/compliance. Responsible for tracking and controlling cost related Safety issues that involve Maintenance intervention. Responsible to identify, manage, lead, direct and develop Continuous Improvement solutions/projects. Responsible for managing, forecasting and developing budgets based on ZBB principles. Responsible for managing the MRO programs/processes to continuously achieve higher levels of performance. Responsible to proactively partner with peer leadership to lead the bakery towards "World Class" operating standards.

Key Job Responsibilities:
  • Oversees maintenance operations for a commercial baking facility consisting of hourly associates and a management staff.
  • Analyzes and solves technical maintenance issues.
  • Leads the achievement of a zero injury workplace by ensuring safe working conditions for associates and compliance with all state and federal regulations on environmental, health and safety issues.
  • Manages and develops plant maintenance programs to ensure minimal downtime.
  • Implements systems to assure that products are manufactured in a safe, sanitary and efficient manner.
  • Ensure associates have the tools, resources and capabilities to succeed and deliver on expectations.
  • Builds a culture of mutual respect, teamwork, and professionalism, demonstrating active support for the Company's culture.
  • Understands, coaches and teaches the principles of BBU Continuous Improvement principles, including lean tools, process capability and operational discipline.
  • Identifies, implements and manages capital improvement projects.
  • Conducts performance appraisals of the Maintenance management team; recommends and/or implements appropriate training programs to address developmental needs.
  • Will be familiar with and utilize the CMMS to analyze data, generate reports and implement actions to improve metrics.
  • Administers and audits all Maintenance safety control programs.
  • Administers and audits all Maintenance environmental protection programs.
  • Develops technical training programs for maintenance supervision and mechanics.
  • Develops short and long term planning, objectives, programs and goals and department budget and cost controls.
  • Ability to establish a strategic vision and lead through floor communication to generate both short term and long term sustainable results.
  • Ability to develop and maintain optimized interdepartmental relationships.
  • Manage and achieve set goals for the management of the MRO system and processes.

Key Behavioral Competencies:
  • Must be familiar with lean tools or a similar statistical process and control system.
  • Candidate must be able to travel for Meetings, FATs, Benchmarking, Etc. Average is 10%-15%
  • Knowledge of safety and environmental related concepts including compliance with State, Federal and Local regulations.
  • Demonstrates strong leadership, teamwork and communication skills and have the ability to use a personal computer.
  • Participative management style that involves and empowers teamsand excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience building a strong fully functional team.


Education and Work History:
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience required.
  • Ten or more years of hands-on management experience in maintenance and engineering leading medium to large size food plant.
  • A combination of education, training and experience that results in demonstrated competency to perform the work may be substituted.
  • Operational background in electrical circuitry, refrigeration, fuel burning equipment and machine mechanics.
  • The candidate must have conceptual knowledge of PLC programming; PLC programming experience preferred, ideal candidate will have PLC programming proficiency.
  • AIB certification preferred
