SummaryCelestica is seeking a DFM and Process Engineer to screen design packages for manufacturability prior to release. Operating within our DFx Center of Excellence, you will conduct pre-DFM reviews against established rule sets, log findings with rule-backed evidence, and work directly with layout engineers to resolve issues rather than throwing reports over the wall. You will also serve as a technical reference for SMT and assembly process questions across assigned sites and programs.
Detailed Description- Pre-DFM Execution: Run pre-DFM screens on assigned packages and publish reports before release, adhering to strict turnaround SLAs.
- Finding Disposition: Log every finding in the register complete with severity, disposition routing, and supporting technical evidence. Collaborate directly with PCB layout designers to resolve issues via design updates, or route through process/supplier adjustments when appropriate.
- Build Verification: Verify and record evidence of finding closures on subsequent build iterations.
- Site & Program Support: Provide technical guidance on site DFM and SMT process questions for designated sites and programs.
- Rule Encoding & Continuous Improvement: Maintain Valor rule encodings for checks within scope and propose rule updates when findings recur across platforms.
Deliverables Owned- Pre-DFM reports issued prior to package release.
- Centralized findings entries with disposition paths and closure evidence.
- In-scope Valor rule encodings and formal rule change proposals.
What This Role Is Not: This position is
not a general design reviewer or a site-level quality checker. The scope is strictly focused on manufacturability, evidenced against defined rules.
Key Success Metrics- Pre-DFM coverage on assigned packages and SLA turnaround performance.
- Share of logged findings closed through concrete design or process modifications.
- Reduction in repeat DFM findings across product platforms.
Knowledge/Skills/Competencies- Practical experience running pre-DFM screening workflows and maintaining Valor rule encodings.
- Background in SMT assembly processes, board-level manufacturability checks, and PCB layout constraints.
- Strong collaborative communication skills to disposition findings directly with layout engineers and site teams.
Physical Demands- Duties of this position are performed in a normal office environment.
- Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data.
- Repetitive manual movements (e.g., data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc.) are frequently required.
- Occasional travel may be required.
Typical Experience- 4 to 6 years in a similar role or industry.
Typical EducationBachelor degree or consideration of an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Educational Requirements may vary by Geography
