Job Title: Senior Joint Exercise Planner/Integrator

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the planning, synchronization, and execution of complex joint and multinational exercises throughout the Joint Event Life Cycle (JELC), ensuring alignment with Combatant Command objectives and joint training priorities.

  • Serve as the primary action officer during exercise planning events, integrating efforts across USSOUTHCOM Headquarters, Service Components, Joint Task Forces, interagency organizations, and multinational partners.

  • Develop exercise concepts, objectives, training audiences, assessment methodologies, planning directives, and supporting documentation to achieve desired operational outcomes.

  • Coordinate exercise scenarios, Master Scenario Event List (MSEL) activities, force requirements, deployment data, and exercise control functions while maintaining milestone-driven execution.

  • Manage and maintain Joint training systems and databases, including JTIMS, JOPES, DRRS, and related planning tools to ensure accurate planning, reporting, and readiness data.

  • Develop After Action Reports, capture lessons learned, and recommend improvements that enhance future exercises, operational readiness, and Joint training effectiveness.

  • Provide senior-level planning, budget, and program management support by assisting with long-range exercise planning, annual funding requirements, spend plans, and resource synchronization.


Qualifications:

Required: 

  • Active Top Secret/SCI security clearance.

  • Extensive experience supporting Combatant Command, Joint Staff, Service Component, or Joint Task Force planning, operations, or exercise programs.

  • Demonstrated expertise with the Joint Event Life Cycle (JELC), Joint Planning processes, JOPES, JTIMS, DRRS, and Joint training doctrine.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with experience briefing senior military and civilian leaders.

  • Ability to coordinate across multiple organizations, build consensus, and manage complex planning efforts in dynamic operational environments


Desired:

  • Graduate of Joint Professional Military Education (JPME I or II), School of Advanced Military Studies (SAMS), Joint Advanced Warfighting School (JAWS), School of Advanced Warfighting (SAW), or equivalent advanced military planning program.

  • Experience supporting multinational, interagency, or coalition exercises within a Geographic Combatant Command.

  • Experience developing exercise budgets, resource plans, and readiness reporting products.
