About Our TeamOur iOS Engineering team plays a pivotal role in enhancing the experience of our 2 million subscribers through two key iOS apps: Everand and Scribd. The Everand app is a gateway for our users to access an expansive library of over 7 million titles, including ebooks, audiobooks, podcasts, and magazine articles, offering a Netflix-like experience. Meanwhile, the Scribd app provides access to an extensive collection of over 100 million user-uploaded documents, including PDFs and other formats.
The Growth organization drives user engagement and business impact across the customer journey. The Retention & Monetization team focuses on conversion flows, subscription management, and retention experiences that maximize long-term value for our users. On mobile, that means we own how people start, manage, and keep their subscriptions: paywalls, in-app purchases, plan changes, cancellation and save flows, and the experiments behind them. Our work ties directly to revenue and retention.
About the RoleWe are seeking a Senior iOS Engineer to join our Growth Retention & Monetization team. You will be the iOS technical owner for the team across the Everand and Scribd apps, and lead the subscription, paywall, and retention features that drive revenue. You will build in-app purchase flows with StoreKit, ship A/B experiments, and partner with backend, web, and Android engineers on shared subscription systems. You will also improve app stability, pay down technical debt, and mentor the engineers around you.
What We're Looking For- A passionate iOS engineer who takes pride in writing clean, maintainable, and scalable Swift code.
- A technical owner who sets direction, breaks large projects into clear steps, and unblocks others.
- A collaborator who communicates early and often with cross-functional partners to align on goals and tradeoffs.
- A pragmatic problem-solver who balances technical rigor with business impact.
- An engineer who cares deeply about users and turns that care into the features they build.
Required Qualifications- 5+ years of experience shipping iOS apps to the public, including consumer apps at scale.
- Strong proficiency in Swift, with deep experience in SwiftUI and UIKit.
- Comfort working in a mature codebase that still has Objective-C.
- Experience building in-app purchase or subscription features with StoreKit, and knowledge of the App Store rules that apply to them.
- Experience designing, building, and consuming APIs (REST, GraphQL a plus).
- A track record of addressing technical debt and migrating code to newer technologies without slowing delivery.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to lead technical initiatives in a collaborative environment.
Technical Skills- Primary: Swift, SwiftUI, UIKit
- Secondary: Objective-C
- Payments: StoreKit and StoreKit 2, App Store subscriptions
- Testing: XCTest, XCUITest (or similar)
- API Integration: RESTful APIs, JSON, GraphQL
- Tooling: Xcode, Git, and iOS CI/CD
Nice to Have- Experience with subscription systems, payments, or retention features such as paywalls, trials, cancellation and save flows, or win-back.
- Experience with experimentation platforms (Statsig or similar) and product analytics.
- Familiarity with web technologies (JavaScript, JSON, REST) or backend frameworks such as Ruby on Rails, to support cross-stack collaboration.
- Exposure to Auth0 or similar authentication frameworks.
- Interest in cross-platform collaboration with Android and web teams.
