Role description:

Arcadis is seeking a highly experienced and skilled Senior Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Engineer with a strong background in the municipal water and wastewater industry to join our growing team in Ontario. In this role, you will work alongside a team of experienced professionals to provide technical and design consulting services. Your focus will be on instrumentation, controls systems, and the associated network and communications infrastructure for municipal water and wastewater conveyance and treatment facilities.

Role accountabilities:

As a Senior I&C Engineer at Arcadis, you will:
  • Lead the development of technical documents, including SCADA architectures, P&IDs, control narratives, specifications, and related I&C documentation.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (process, mechanical, electrical) to ensure integrated control system design.
  • Oversee construction-phase engineering services, such as reviewing submittals, responding to RFIs, and conducting field inspections.
  • Monitor safety compliance and perform QA/QC reviews to ensure adherence to design specifications.
  • Participate in factory and site acceptance testing, system startups, and commissioning activities.
  • Design and specify SCADA HMI and PLC hardware/software architectures for process and electromechanical equipment.
  • Apply expertise in industrial network design, including radio, cellular, and fiber optic communications for SCADA systems.
  • Utilize AutoCAD, Revit, and Microsoft Office tools for design and documentation purposes.
  • Manage multiple assignments independently, meeting project deliverables and deadlines.
  • Communicate effectively with internal teams and clients, both orally and in writing.
  • Occasionally travel to client sites and other Arcadis offices as needed.
  • Maintain professional credentials and knowledge of current industry standards and best practices.

Qualifications & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Controls Engineering (or related field).
  • Minimum 7 years' experience in I&C, automation, and SCADA for water/wastewater projects.
  • PEO license required.
  • Experience with PLC/HMI programming, configuration, and startup preferred.
  • Water/wastewater process control experience is an asset.

The salary range for this position is $112,000-162,000. The base salary represents Arcadis' hiring range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as location, skills, experience, and qualification for the role.
