Senior Health Center Manager - Des Moines, IA

Pay: The anticipated salary range for this position is $72,000-$95,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications. Compensation is determined based on a variety of factors, including relevant work experience, the skills required for the role, internal equity, market competitiveness, and budget considerations. Travel: 3 weeks in Metro MPS area for training, and occasional travel to support other heath centers and for special projects

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in business, human services, public health, nursing related area, or 4 years equivalent experience
  • Six years of progressively responsible leadership experience or a combination of relevant experience and education to equal six years
  • Three years' previous work experience managing other supervisors or team leaders
  • Work experience in health services


Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

Lead & Inspire Operational Excellence

  • Provide strategic direction and day-to-day leadership to health center teams with integrity and empathy, fostering a culture of trust, collaboration, and exceptional service modeling excellence in ethics and customer service.
  • Champion a high-performing, inclusive team culture rooted in trust, collaboration, and accountability.
  • Oversee health center operations, staffing, and data collection.
  • Ensure compliance with medical standards, SOPs, and state laws - including mandatory reporting and abortion services.
  • Serve as a mentor to other Health Services managers, offering guidance, expertise, and support.
  • Develop and manage the health center's financial plan, including budgeting, reporting, expense control, performance analysis, and process improvements, while overseeing inventory, supplies, and vendor relationships to ensure cost-effective, compliant operations.
  • Leads by example and serves as a role model to other managers and frontline staff by demonstrating a broad commitment to organizational success and jumping in when needed to fill PPNCS leadership needs


Performance & Quality

  • Hire, train, supervise, and mentor staff. Facilitate professional development and regular team meetings to support growth and performance.
  • Meet productivity goals across revenue, expenses, patient volume, and customer satisfaction. Monitor financial performance in partnership with finance.
  • Oversee daily health center operations to meet goals in efficiency, productivity, revenue, patient satisfaction, and quality care.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory standards (HIPAA, CLIA, OSHA) and internal policies and procedures.
  • Monitor systems and workflow to remove barriers to staff performance and patient experience.
  • Takes ownership of performance and quality in local/assigned health center(s) and contributes to overall Health Services performance and quality


Innovation & Improvement

  • Contributes to the ongoing innovation and improvement of PPNCS Health Services through specialized expertise, leadership of special projects, and ad hoc assignments
  • Lead new service development and operational improvement projects and promote development of care strategies (Examples but not limited to: process improvement related to check in, new services, and telehealth to position PPNCS for future growth.
  • Identify and implement local and organizational process enhancements to improve care delivery in a patient-centered environment that prioritizes dignity, responsiveness, and holistic care.
  • Partner with other departments (e.g., purchasing, compliance) to ensure seamless operations and communication.


Facilities

  • Identify and mitigate risks to ensure safe, compliant, and high-quality care.
  • Manage facility maintenance and ensure adequate inventory of medical equipment and supplies.


Community Engagement

  • Serve as a public-facing advocate for PPNCS. Build partnerships with community health networks and lead outreach efforts in collaboration with governmental affairs, education, and external relations teams.
  • Collaborate, lead, and participate in education efforts across the communities served in coordination with organizational efforts.


Collaboration & Mission Alignment

  • Partner with internal departments and relevant external agencies to align health center operations with organizational goals.
  • Provide ad-hoc leadership to other Health Centers as needed to support PPNCS and other Health Services leaders through vacancies, time off and leaves of absence
  • Travel to Health Centers and Health Services offices as needed to deliver specialized expertise to support the mission, collaborate with colleagues, and provide on-site leadership for interim leadership assignments. Expectation of travel is approximately 25%.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as needed to support the mission and operations of PPNCS.


Immunization Requirements:

  • Hepatitis B vaccination records
  • Measles, Mumps and Rubella (MMR) vaccination records or proof of immunization
  • Tuberculosis PPD Skin Test that is no older than 12 months
