Full Job Description
POSITION: Senior GND Systems Engineer
LOCATION: El Segundo, CA
REQUIRED SECURITY CLEARANCE: Active TS with SCI eligibility
POSITION TYPE/STANDARD WORK HOURS: Full time, 40 hours

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Support Space Acquisitions and Engineering: Provide technical advice for projects at any acquisition life cycle stage, including advanced technology, concept development, and integration.
  • Advise on Cost, Schedule, and Performance: Assist the government in managing acquisition programs efficiently.
  • Develop and Revise Acquisition Documentation: Draft and update Joint Capabilities Integrated Development System (JCIDS) and acquisition documents, including Capability Documents, Acquisition Strategies, Concept of Operations, Technical Evaluations, and reports, following government standards (e.g., MIL-STD).
  • Provide Technical and Programmatic Reports: Prepare SME-level status reports on programs or portfolios in coordination with government program managers.
  • Identify and Mitigate Risks: Recommend and implement acquisition process improvements, risk mitigation plans, and programmatic changes. Support risk management efforts, including risk identification and mitigation strategies.
  • Monitor and Maintain Program Schedules: Track acquisition implementation, report requirement gaps, assess program risks, and update acquisition reports based on program execution data.
  • Support Technical Engagements: Advise and assist with technical meetings, design reviews, working groups, program conferences, and contractor/customer coordination.
  • Mission Protection and Operations: Provide insights and solutions for mission protection, operations, and data assessments. Conduct impact analyses, compliance audits, readiness reviews, and technical anomaly evaluations.
  • Command and Control (C2) Integration: Support Command and Control (C2) efforts, ensuring integration with classified portfolios. Act as a liaison between Space C2, Enterprise Ground Services (EGS), and classified program offices.
  • Modeling, Simulation and Analysis (MS&A): Provide MS&A support, including architecture development, mission analysis, and validation of alternative architectures. Use MS&A tools to advise and interpret results.
  • Cybersecurity Support: Provide cybersecurity recommendations in line with DoDI 8500.01, advise on cyber activities, and support cybersecurity working groups and reviews.
  • Manage Cybersecurity Authorizations: Track and manage Authority to Operate, Authority to Test, and related cyber certifications. Support cyber testing, assessments, and compliance with the Federal Information Security Management Act.
  • Testing and Operations Support: Assist with test planning, events, and documentation for Developmental and Operational Testing. Coordinate system-level test integration activities.
  • Engineering Support for Operations: Provide analytical and operational engineering support, including mission planning, mission protection, and anomaly resolution.
  • Data and Signal Analysis: Support data collection, processing, storage, and analysis. Assist with post-mission analysis and reporting of plan-versus-execution results.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Expert in ACAT-like classified space control ground and C2 systems
  • Expert in developing & documenting ACAT-like program ground architectures including but not limited to, DoDAF architecture views and Information Support Plans
  • Highly knowledgeable in the fields of DoD Information Assurance design, testing, certification, and accreditation
  • At least 10 years' experience in this type of position or program is required. MA/MS degree required; however, a BA/BS degree is acceptable if the candidate possesses at least 12 years of experience in this type of position or program. The Materiel Leader may also waive the MA/MS requirement.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position does not supervise the work of others.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Must be able to operate a computer and other standard office equipment. Must be able to remain in a stationary position, 80%.

TRAVEL:
Little if any travel is required.

COMPENSATION / SALARY RANGE:
BTAS adheres to federal, state, and local regulations. This is a Full-Time, Salary, Exempt position. The following salary range is what we reasonably expect to pay but is contingent and subject to a variety of factors, including but not limited to years of experience, education, certification(s), training, specialized skills, responsibilities, etc.

SALARY RANGE: $148,000 - $275,000 Annual Salary
