Full Job Description
The Role

BGC is seeking a Geochemist or Hydrogeochemist with expertise in metal leaching (ML) and acid rock drainage (ARD) theory and application, water quality, seepage mitigation and management to join our growing team.

This role sits at the intersection of:
  • Geochemistry (ML/ARD, water quality)
  • Hydrogeology (groundwater flow, monitoring, modelling)
  • Mine water management
  • Pipeline and transportation (rock spoil management associated with linear infrastructure)

The successful candidate will work closely with project managers, engineers, and geoscientists across BGC on small, geochemistry-focused scopes to large multidisciplinary projects supporting project applications/permitting as well as design and performance assessment of waste facilities and water management systems across the project's lifecycle. In this role, you will play a key part in integrating geochemistry with other technical disciplines at BGC, providing technical leadership and mentorship to earlier career employees within the geochemistry team, and guidance to advance our state of practice in geochemistry, water quality and its application to mining and linear infrastructure projects

This position can be based at any of BGC's Canadian office locations.

Responsibilities
  • Act as technical lead on project scope design and interpretation for metal leaching and acid rock drainage (ML/ARD), water quality, source term development and predictive water quality modelling projects
  • Provide technical leadership in design and interpretation of water quality, and hydrogeological monitoring programs and analysis of geochemical and hydrogeological datasets and predictive modeling
  • Integrate with hydrogeology and hydrology teams on coupled water balance and water quality modeling projects. Contribute to seepage, and groundwater flow analysis.
  • Participate in third party reviews, instrumentation review, and reporting
  • Manage projects, including proposals, budgets, schedules, staffing and scopes
  • Supervise, train, and mentor junior and intermediate staff in the field and office
  • Participate in business development and identify new opportunities, promoting BGCs capacity for undertaking innovative and advanced hydrogeochemical projects
