Full Job Description
An overview of this role

GitLab is the intelligent orchestration platform for DevSecOps. GitLab enables organizations to increase developer productivity, improve operational efficiency, reduce security and compliance risk, and accelerate digital transformation. The same principles that shape our products guide how our team works: we embrace AI as a core productivity multiplier, and all team members incorporate AI into their daily workflows to drive efficiency, innovation, and impact.

As a Senior FP&A Analyst, Cloud Hosting, you'll be a finance partner on GitLab's Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) team. Reporting to the Manager, FP&A, you'll provide timely, fact-based analysis and decision support for cloud and AI infrastructure investments. You'll turn complex financial, billing, and operational data into clear insights that help engineering and finance leaders make informed decisions.

What You'll Do
  • Manage and report on cloud and AI-related expenses, maintaining forecast models that incorporate actual results, usage drivers, and business drivers.
  • Execute recurring month-end close activities, including accruals, allocations, reconciliations, variance analysis, and close commentary.
  • Support forecasting and annual planning cycles, and build or enhance financial models to answer new and evolving business questions.
  • Partner with engineering, product, procurement, accounting, and finance stakeholders to gather inputs, resolve data questions, explain results, and support spending decisions.
  • Access and analyze cloud billing information from provider consoles, billing exports, and other data sources, then translate findings into clear narratives, recommendations, and decision-support materials.
  • Use AI tools to automate and improve recurring analysis, reporting, data preparation, and other finance workflows while improving data quality, accuracy, scalability, and operating efficiency.
  • Own deliverables, communicate progress and risks proactively, and manage changing priorities in GitLab's distributed, asynchronous environment.

What You'll Bring
  • Experience in FP&A, corporate finance, accounting, or finance business partnering, including exposure to vendor spend, forecasting, variance analysis, and month-end close activities.
  • Strong Financial modeling and analytical skills, including the ability to work with detailed data, investigate variances, evaluate financial trade-offs, and build or enhance models from scratch.
  • The ability to translate complex financial and operational information into clear narratives and recommendations for cross-functional stakeholders.
  • The ability to prioritize effectively, work independently, and communicate clearly in an asynchronous environment.
  • Experience with cloud and AI vendor spend.
  • Cloud cost management and FinOps experience is preferred but not required. What matters is the ability and desire to work with cloud cost data to help business partners make informed decisions.

We work closely with technology, engineering, procurement, accounting, and FP&A partners. We work in GitLab's all-remote, asynchronous environment and value clear communication, ownership, mentorship, and the ability to make complex information useful. The FP&A Manager is hands-on and available to help while giving team members opportunities to present to leadership and own their work.
