Full Job Description
The Opportunity

An established and growing wealth management practice is seeking a Senior Financial Planner to play a pivotal role in the firm's next stage of growth.

This is a high-impact opportunity for an accomplished CFP® professional who knows comprehensive planning inside and out, can bring clarity to complex client situations, and is motivated by the opportunity to directly influence the firm's growth-and grow into a meaningful ownership role over time.

The Senior Financial Planner will lead the planning and analytical work behind the firm's client relationships, bringing investment operations and planning analysis together into one high-caliber seat.

What You'll Own
  • Lead comprehensive financial planning across four pillars: risk management, tax, wealth, and estate planning.
  • Work through sophisticated planning scenarios, including Roth conversions, liquidity events, business-owner planning, and variable and equity compensation.
  • Deliver planning for a demanding client base, including highly compensated sales professionals, owners of privately held businesses, and technology professionals with restricted stock units and concentrated company stock.
  • Analyze client portfolios and oversee portfolio administration and rebalancing at a high level, with attention to tax impact and AGI management.
  • Own money movement and the investment operations behind the firm's planning process.
  • Lead portfolio clean-up and strengthen the firm's actively managed and index ETF strategies.
  • Review discovery findings, recommendations, and client documents to ensure every plan is complete, accurate, and ready for implementation.
  • Serve as the internal communicator who keeps the team aligned from discovery through recommendations and implementation.
  • Build and maintain financial plans and client deliverables in eMoney.
  • Engage clients at a high level when needed, while serving as the planning and analytical engine of the practice.
  • Master the firm's planning philosophy and process, and elevate the tools already in place rather than reinventing them.

Why This Role

The person stepping into this position will have the opportunity to shape how the firm plans for its clients rather than simply execute an existing process.

You'll work directly alongside the firm's founder, with the autonomy to apply your expertise to sophisticated client situations and the resources of an established, high-growth practice behind you.

Most importantly, this is a role where performance and long-term opportunity are closely connected. The firm is planning for its future and is looking for someone who already brings an owner's mindset and wants a path where exceptional contribution can translate into partnership-level opportunity.

What We're Looking For
  • 7+ years of comprehensive financial planning experience preferred (5 years minimum), operating as a seasoned professional who requires no hand-holding.
  • Deep expertise across risk management, tax, wealth, and estate planning, with planning strength valued above pure portfolio analysis.
  • Demonstrated experience with complex planning scenarios, including Roth conversions, liquidity events, and privately held business owners.
  • Experience planning around variable compensation, restricted stock units, and concentrated company stock.
  • A risk-management-centered planning philosophy that includes permanent life insurance as part of a complete plan.
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to see how the plan, the portfolio, and the process come together.
  • Proficiency in eMoney.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a collaborative, team-first approach.
  • Inquisitive, driven, and motivated to do more, not less.
  • Able to work in the Lombard office Tuesday through Thursday, with core hours of 7:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.
  • CFP® designation required; CFA® charter a strong plus.
  • FINRA Series 7 required or must have within 90 days of employment

The Impact

This individual will become a key contributor to the firm's long-term growth strategy and the quality of every client plan it delivers.

For someone who already knows how to deliver sophisticated, comprehensive planning and wants the founder access, the platform, and the long-term ownership opportunity to think bigger. This is an opportunity to build something substantial and be rewarded for the value created.
