Job DescriptionWe are recruiting for a Senior Financial Analyst, Financial Planning & Analysis to join our team in our Toronto office. The successful candidate must have a minimum of five (5) or more years of relevant finance experience, with experience in financial planning, variance analysis and management reporting and will be responsible for owning a portfolio of departments end to end managing, analyzing, evaluating and reporting on their performance while contributing to the firm-wide budget cycles and the projects that keep improving how Finance works. Salary Range (Toronto Only): $80,000 - $95,000 annually
As a Senior Financial Analyst, FP&A you will be:
Planning, budgeting and forecasting
- Leading the preparation and consolidation of the annual budget and the mid-year forecast cycles, working with departmental leaders to build their submissions from the bottom up.
- Administering the firm's budgeting and forecasting platform through each cycle, including opening and maintaining budget versions, validating submissions and reconciling results.
- Preparing budget analysis and presentation for senior leadership.
- Identifying and implementing improvements to the budget process, templates and guidelines with each cycle.
Month-end close process and Executive Reporting
- Owning the monthly accruals for an assigned portfolio of departments and present your line items at the monthly accruals meeting.
- Preparing month-end journal entries, reclassifications and related account reconciliations.
- Managing and analyzing monthly payroll reports for headcount and salary reconciliation.
- Preparing monthly deck packages and supporting analysis for senior leadership and Audit Committee.
Variance analysis and business partnering
- Preparing monthly and quarterly variance analysis against budget and prior year for an assigned portfolio of direct and indirect cost centers.
- Investigating month-over-month movements, responding to review questions from Finance leadership and revising your analysis through the review cycle.
- Acting as a finance business partner to department leaders and functional groups: explaining results, challenging assumptions, and helping them manage their resources, costs and investments against Budget.
- Providing in-depth ad hoc financial analysis and decision support to stakeholders across the firm.
Other responsibilities
- Managing and distributing monthly expense reports to business leaders.
- Supporting the firm's annual professional liability insurance renewal and its interim and international submissions.
- Assisting with various finance projects as well partnering with other functional groups on projects impacting finance.
- Undertaking business process efficiency, reviews and system automation opportunities.
- Other ad-hoc projects as assigned.
As our ideal candidate, you will distinguish yourself by the following profile:
- A professional accounting designation (CPA) or an equivalent finance qualification.
- Five or more years of relevant finance experience, with experience in financial planning, variance analysis and management reporting .
- Solid month-end close experience, including accruals, journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Expert level knowledge of Microsoft Excel skills, and confidence working with large data sets from multiple source systems.
- Demonstrated experience improving business processes and automating recurring reporting.
- The capacity to handle high-pressure situations, competing priorities and tight deadlines, which is critical during close, forecast and budget cycles.
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills, with the ability to translate financial results into clear commentary for a non-financial audience.
- The ability to interact with all levels of the organization on sensitive and confidential matters in a professional manner.
