Full Job Description

Akima, LLC is looking to hire a Senior Finance Manager to join our growing and dynamic organization. In this role, you will play a significant role as the financial business partner with Operations, responsible for financial planning, reporting, and analysis supporting one or more subsidiaries within the Facilities Solutions Group of Akima, LLC.  This position reports to the Sr Director of Finance and will interface with the Group President, subsidiary general managers, corporate accounting staff, project control, contracts, human resources, and the corporate government compliance team.

Responsibilities
  • Financial Planning & Analysis:
    • Prepares and distributes periodic, quarterly, and annual financial statements and performance metrics with variance reporting to subsidiary managers. Reports will include revenue, direct cost, indirect cost, company & group income, labor utilization, indirect rates, days sales outstanding, and other appropriate variances to budgets and forecasts. Primary system tools utilized are Deltek Costpoint and Cognos.
    • Works with subsidiary managers and corporate staff to develop necessary data for key performance indicators to monitor progress, performance trends, and “early warning” indicators.
    • Works with subsidiary general managers to prepare annual budgets and forecasts for subsidiaries supported.
    • Leads role in preparing the Quarterly Business Reviews.
    • Assists subsidiary managers with maintaining rate pool integrity and managing actual rates to provisional and billing rates.
    • Assists with resolution of financial management issues arising in subsidiaries.
  • Accounting and Project Control Support:
    • Provides direction and ground rules to project control staff related to budgeting and forecasting, and the monthly close process (accruals, revenue adjustments, etc).
    • Ensures subsidiary readiness for periodic, quarterly, and year-end closes (EACs complete, accrual submissions complete, costs and revenues properly recognized, management sign-off, etc.), and participate in pre-close revenue and profit review with project control and accounting staff.
    • Reviews Project Set-up Forms for logic and makes change recommendations where applicable.
    • Reviews revenue recognition method selected as part of job set-up in Deltek Costpoint.
  • Compliance & Audit Support:
    • Works with the Akima, LLC Compliance team to develop compliant and defensible indirect rates for the assigned subsidiaries.
    • Supports the Compliance team with responses to DCAA.
    • Supports the Corporate Accounting staff on audit inquiries.
  • Tracks subsidiary AR aging / DSO and provide recommendations to subsidiary managers for improvements.
  • Assists in the preparation of cost / price proposal efforts.
  • Prepares ad hoc analyses related to sales by contract type, market area, and customer; contract wins and losses; and business development pipeline.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance/Accounting or related field of study. CPA preferred.
  • Ten plus (10) years of professional experience in a financial management role for a Federal Contractor.
  • Advanced level MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access) skills required.
  • Experience supporting programs and/or projects (singular or combined) in excess of $100 million in annual revenue.
  • Experience with Deltek Costpoint (project/account/org structures, cost and burden process, revenue recognition formulas, inquiries, and reports).
  • Experience with T&M, CPFF, FFP, CP and similar other government contract types.
  • Working knowledge of indirect rates, rate pools, and allocations.
  • Solid Understanding of GAAP, Revenue Recognition, Deferred Revenue, ensuring compliance for the business.
  • Strong business acumen coupled with financial prudence.
  • Ability to work under pressure in fast paced challenging environment.
